SEED SPOT IS PROUD
TO REPORT THE
FOLLOWING OUTCOMES
I think what makes SEED SPOT such an incred-
ible ongoing opportunity for me is that it goes
way beyond a business accelerator. They certain-
ly accel your business, but they can literally help
you form the idea as well. SEED SPOT empow-
ers you to find the problems you want to solve
and then they show you how to get started.
I attended the women’s week and could not be-
lieve the value I obtained. The idea for AVA was
literally born that week with the help of amaz-
ing mentors like Heidi Jannenga from WebPT.
I knew I would be able to shape and grow AVA
through the full-time program and even now I
continue to meet with my mentors, use the office
space and collaborate with fellow startups.
Without SEED SPOT I would never have had
the courage to create a software solution for
vision and hearing screenings on my own, or
put together such a talented and gifted team of
equally caring individuals. This school year has
just started and we have already been in three
schools and provided over 1,500 vision and hear-
ing screenings. We should triple what we did last
year and in October we will be heading to Sili-
con Valley to work with GSV labs that specialize
in Ed Tech SaaS.
I am so grateful to be able to bring this solution
to so many students and school nurses who
work so hard to serve their student population
and I know it is ALL because of SEED SPOT.

Impact From
Their Solutions
The individuals participating in our pro-
grams develop the solutions to be agents of
change for their communities. Our focus is on
supporting individuals who have dreams of
creating change through entrepreneurship.
Diversity
& Inclusion
We continue to attract business leaders from
all walks of life. The blend of different back-
grounds, experiences, and perspectives leads
to greater results of impact.
Community
Centric
Early stage businesses need to be supported
by local resources. It’s no different for non-
profit or for-profit companies, entrepreneur-
ship is inherently local. We create a safe place
for entrepreneurs to find a community that
believes in their ideas.
Entrepreneur
Above Venture
We place our bets on individuals. We know that
the nature of a business can change but our fo-
cus on the entrepreneur enables the community
to effectively rally around an entrepreneur that
is committed to solving a problem.
SINCE OUR FOUNDING 4 Y E A R S A G O THE GOAL HAS
BEEN TO CREATE A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL ENTREPRENEURS
TO FIND A COMMUNITY THAT BELIEVES IN THEIR IDEAS
Omron came to SEED SPOT Phoenix with an idea to
start a non-profit to seek equality and fair wages among
international workers in the garment industry. But after
deciding to return to school to pursue a master’s degree
in biomedical engineering, he was driven to start a busi-
ness that could provide everyone access to healthcare.
With this dream, Telescrypts was born. After forming a
partnership with UNICEF, Telescrypts has become the
most mobile health care system in the world.
In 2016, Omron started a new nonprofit to make an
impact in the lives of the 74,000 refugees in Arizona. In
the US, refugees have few opportunities to pursue higher
education and are left trying to find low paying jobs. The
Refugee Code Academy provides coding courses to help
refugees become professional programmers.
Francisco and Luis came to SEED SPOT Phoenix in
2012, hoping to create a career that they were passion-
ate about. Money pools have been a large part of their
culture and Luis purchased his first car with one. Com-
bining their backgrounds, eMoneyPool was launched in
October 2010.
Their mission is “to help individuals reach their fi-
nancial goals.” eMoneyPool is now the world’s largest
money pool marketplace with over $2.9M in transac-
tions. The online platform is designed to help instill
saving habits for individuals around the world.
Jenny came to SEED SPOT Phoenix with just an idea and
now her dream is a thriving nonprofit called Celebrate
EDU. Jenny watched her older brother Brent, who is on
the autism spectrum, experience extreme difficulty dur-
ing his transition from school to adulthood. After years
of struggle and trying every possibility, he found success
as an entrepreneur. Jenny started Celebrate EDU to help
other families have an easier transition and to create more
opportunities for success for those with disabilities.
Celebrate EDU is a nonprofit on a mission to encourage
and empower young adults with development disabili-
ties by providing innovative entrepreneurial education
that builds on interests and strengths so that they can
create happier and more productive lives. All of their
programs are run online, allowing anyone, anywhere to
find out if becoming an entrepreneur is the right fit.

DEVELOPMENT
We aligned our metrics with The Impact Re-
porting and Investment Standards (IRIS), the
standard impact metric taxonomy. To find out
how our alumni create impact, we approach
evaluation using mixed methods: surveys, as-
sessments, and interviews.

COLLECTION
June 2016 Alumni Impact Survey Response
At the start of the survey we set expectations
assuring that individual surveys will be kept
confidential and disclosing data will only be
reported in aggregate. The collection process
lasted for a period of one month.
S T E P 3
ANALYSIS
Using Tableau to visualize and breakdown
the data has given us new insight into the
outcomes of our programs. The results reflect
data after the entrepreneur exited the SEED
SPOT program. We report all data in aggre-
gate form, but acknowledge that there are
outliers from every program and every cohort
that could affect the results.
L I M I TAT I O N S
Exceeding our response rate goal was an
achievement, but we acknowledge that self re-
ported data inherently has limitations. We took
time to structure our survey to produce more
focused results. We tried to control for bias by
asking clear and non-leading questions, add-
ing open-ended questions, and structuring the
survey with logic and branching. The feedback
from our program participants will help us
improve, but we acknowledge that bias could
have influenced responses.

TO LEARN HOW OUR PROGRAM’S ACTIVITIES
EMPOWER PARTICIPANTS WE ASKED EACH SEED
SPOT VENTURE TO RATE A SERIES OF QUESTIONS.
THIS HAS PROVIDED US VALUABLE FEEDBACK.
HERE ARE THE RESULTS.
F I N D I N G S
LAUNCH OF BOOT CAMP MODEL
Introducing a new program this year, the 5-day
Boot Camp, has allowed SEED SPOT Phoenix
to increase its focus on working with women,
refugee, and Latino entrepreneurs.
IMPACTING COMMUNITIES
SEED SPOT Phoenix contin-
ues to support ventures that
focus on impacting low to
moderate income populations.
In the past four years 82% of
program participants focus
their model on low-to-moder-
ate income communities.
LOCAL INVESTMENT
SEED SPOT’s model is to invest local
resources to produce local impact. 84% of
program participants agree they received
support from local resources and in return
80% are focusing their impact locally. This
result proves the model and our need for
sustainable local investment.
RAISING CAPITAL
31% of SEED SPOT Phoenix participants
disagree that they were prepared to raise
capital. In response SEED SPOT Phoenix
has launched a capital raise program that
is unique and open to all past program
participants.

More
Diversity
Last year, we made the promise to remain vigilant
in our pursuit to disrupt the statistical norms of age,
gender, and ethnicity that comprise most entrepre-
neurial circles. We launched programs working with
refugees, supporting Latino entrepreneurs and female
founders. We are B U I L D I N G more diverse
mentor networks, teams across the country, and part-
nerships with other institutions working with diverse
populations.
Better
Listening
We teach entrepreneurs to always listen to their
customer. Based on talking with our entrepreneurs,
we developed a raising capital program to help
entrepreneurs connect and raise capital from
investors. We strive to A LWAY S listen to our
entrepreneurs and meet their needs.
Tighter
Values
SEED SPOT has and will always be a safe and
supportive space. Our core values have been
tested a lot over the past four years. We will remain
steadfast in our unwavering dedication to protecting,
supporting, and creating a safe place for A L L
entrepreneurs.

From the start we have been lucky to be sup-
ported by incredible people, businesses and
corporations, but there has always been a
special place in our hearts for our Interns.
Since 2012 we have had over 25 interns sup-
porting various projects, programs, teams and
initiatives. They represent over 10 colleges
and universities from across the country.
Their internships have ranged from a short 3
months to over a year. Each of them have left
a lasting impression on us and will always be
part of the SEED SPOT team.
Thank you to all our interns who worked with
SEED SPOT over this past year!

SEED SPOT’s mentors are an amazing and dedi-

our entrepreneurs. We our proud to have a vast
network of engaged and experienced mentors that
work one to one with entrepreneurs in our Full-
time Program, support our Evening Program, and
participate in our Boot Camps.
The mentorship program connects entrepreneurs
with industry experts. The program builds a circle
of trust around the entrepreneurs allowing the
mentors to help accelerate their work. Mentors
guide the entrepreneurs throughout their SEED

es invested by the mentors has even led some to
join the advisory boards of alumni ventures.

  • 4. I think what makes SEED SPOT such an incred- ible ongoing opportunity for me is that it goes way beyond a business accelerator. They certain- ly accel your business, but they can literally help you form the idea as well. SEED SPOT empow- ers you to find the problems you want to solve and then they show you how to get started. I attended the women’s week and could not be- lieve the value I obtained. The idea for AVA was literally born that week with the help of amaz- ing mentors like Heidi Jannenga from WebPT. I knew I would be able to shape and grow AVA through the full-time program and even now I continue to meet with my mentors, use the office space and collaborate with fellow startups. Without SEED SPOT I would never have had the courage to create a software solution for vision and hearing screenings on my own, or put together such a talented and gifted team of equally caring individuals. This school year has just started and we have already been in three schools and provided over 1,500 vision and hear- ing screenings. We should triple what we did last year and in October we will be heading to Sili- con Valley to work with GSV labs that specialize in Ed Tech SaaS. I am so grateful to be able to bring this solution to so many students and school nurses who work so hard to serve their student population and I know it is ALL because of SEED SPOT. • 6. Impact From Their Solutions The individuals participating in our pro- grams develop the solutions to be agents of change for their communities. Our focus is on supporting individuals who have dreams of creating change through entrepreneurship. Diversity & Inclusion We continue to attract business leaders from all walks of life. The blend of different back- grounds, experiences, and perspectives leads to greater results of impact. Community Centric Early stage businesses need to be supported by local resources. It’s no different for non- profit or for-profit companies, entrepreneur- ship is inherently local. We create a safe place for entrepreneurs to find a community that believes in their ideas. Entrepreneur Above Venture We place our bets on individuals. We know that the nature of a business can change but our fo- cus on the entrepreneur enables the community to effectively rally around an entrepreneur that is committed to solving a problem. SINCE OUR FOUNDING 4 Y E A R S A G O THE GOAL HAS BEEN TO CREATE A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL ENTREPRENEURS TO FIND A COMMUNITY THAT BELIEVES IN THEIR IDEAS
  • 7. Omron came to SEED SPOT Phoenix with an idea to start a non-profit to seek equality and fair wages among international workers in the garment industry. But after deciding to return to school to pursue a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, he was driven to start a busi- ness that could provide everyone access to healthcare. With this dream, Telescrypts was born. After forming a partnership with UNICEF, Telescrypts has become the most mobile health care system in the world. In 2016, Omron started a new nonprofit to make an impact in the lives of the 74,000 refugees in Arizona. In the US, refugees have few opportunities to pursue higher education and are left trying to find low paying jobs. The Refugee Code Academy provides coding courses to help refugees become professional programmers. Francisco and Luis came to SEED SPOT Phoenix in 2012, hoping to create a career that they were passion- ate about. Money pools have been a large part of their culture and Luis purchased his first car with one. Com- bining their backgrounds, eMoneyPool was launched in October 2010. Their mission is “to help individuals reach their fi- nancial goals.” eMoneyPool is now the world’s largest money pool marketplace with over $2.9M in transac- tions. The online platform is designed to help instill saving habits for individuals around the world. Jenny came to SEED SPOT Phoenix with just an idea and now her dream is a thriving nonprofit called Celebrate EDU. Jenny watched her older brother Brent, who is on the autism spectrum, experience extreme difficulty dur- ing his transition from school to adulthood. After years of struggle and trying every possibility, he found success as an entrepreneur. Jenny started Celebrate EDU to help other families have an easier transition and to create more opportunities for success for those with disabilities. Celebrate EDU is a nonprofit on a mission to encourage and empower young adults with development disabili- ties by providing innovative entrepreneurial education that builds on interests and strengths so that they can create happier and more productive lives. All of their programs are run online, allowing anyone, anywhere to find out if becoming an entrepreneur is the right fit. “SEED SPOT GREW THE ENTREPRENEURIAL BUG INSIDE ME.” “SEED SPOT HELPED LEGITIMIZE OUR COMPANY AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT EMONEYPOOL TO THE COMMUNITY AND ITS LEADERS.” “I N J U S T T H R E E Y E A R S S I N C E S E E D S P O T, W E A R E M A K I N G A N I M PA C T O N T H O U S A N D S O F L I V E S . ” O M R O N B L A U O Spring 2014 Full-time Program Telescrpyts & Refugee Code Academy J E N N Y A N D E R S O N Fall 2013 Full-time Program Celebrate EDU FRANCISCO CERVERA & LUIS CERVERA Spring 2013 Full-time Program, eMoneyPool ALUMNI IMPACT PROFILES For More Alumni Impact Profiles Check Out: seedspot.org

  • 9. S T E P 1 DEVELOPMENT We aligned our metrics with The Impact Re- porting and Investment Standards (IRIS), the standard impact metric taxonomy. To find out how our alumni create impact, we approach evaluation using mixed methods: surveys, as- sessments, and interviews. S T E P 2 COLLECTION June 2016 Alumni Impact Survey Response At the start of the survey we set expectations assuring that individual surveys will be kept confidential and disclosing data will only be reported in aggregate. The collection process lasted for a period of one month. S T E P 3 ANALYSIS Using Tableau to visualize and breakdown the data has given us new insight into the outcomes of our programs. The results reflect data after the entrepreneur exited the SEED SPOT program. We report all data in aggre- gate form, but acknowledge that there are outliers from every program and every cohort that could affect the results. L I M I TAT I O N S Exceeding our response rate goal was an achievement, but we acknowledge that self re- ported data inherently has limitations. We took time to structure our survey to produce more focused results. We tried to control for bias by asking clear and non-leading questions, add- ing open-ended questions, and structuring the survey with logic and branching. The feedback from our program participants will help us improve, but we acknowledge that bias could have influenced responses. ABOUT THIS REPORT RATE: Goal 62% Actual 76%

  • 13. F I N D I N G S LAUNCH OF BOOT CAMP MODEL Introducing a new program this year, the 5-day Boot Camp, has allowed SEED SPOT Phoenix to increase its focus on working with women, refugee, and Latino entrepreneurs. IMPACTING COMMUNITIES SEED SPOT Phoenix contin- ues to support ventures that focus on impacting low to moderate income populations. In the past four years 82% of program participants focus their model on low-to-moder- ate income communities. LOCAL INVESTMENT SEED SPOT’s model is to invest local resources to produce local impact. 84% of program participants agree they received support from local resources and in return 80% are focusing their impact locally. This result proves the model and our need for sustainable local investment. RAISING CAPITAL 31% of SEED SPOT Phoenix participants disagree that they were prepared to raise capital. In response SEED SPOT Phoenix has launched a capital raise program that is unique and open to all past program participants.

  • 15. More Diversity Last year, we made the promise to remain vigilant in our pursuit to disrupt the statistical norms of age, gender, and ethnicity that comprise most entrepre- neurial circles. We launched programs working with refugees, supporting Latino entrepreneurs and female founders. We are B U I L D I N G more diverse mentor networks, teams across the country, and part- nerships with other institutions working with diverse populations. Better Listening We teach entrepreneurs to always listen to their customer. Based on talking with our entrepreneurs, we developed a raising capital program to help entrepreneurs connect and raise capital from investors. We strive to A LWAY S listen to our entrepreneurs and meet their needs. Tighter Values SEED SPOT has and will always be a safe and supportive space. Our core values have been tested a lot over the past four years. We will remain steadfast in our unwavering dedication to protecting, supporting, and creating a safe place for A L L entrepreneurs. CEO ADDRESS FOUR YEARS AGO, WE HAD A DREAM TO BUILD A SAFE SPACE FOR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS IN PHOENIX.
