The first annual Hope Fest took place on March 16th, 2019 at Hillsborough County Fairgrounds in Dover, Florida and it was crazy awesome!!! Although the attendance was lower than expected, students and their families representing 40 Hillsborough County schools turned out and enjoyed the event. The mission of encouraging the youth and giving them hope for the future was accomplished.
Three days before the event Conchita Canty-Jones and Jon Buckles took the prize spinning wheel on a promotional tour to Rampello Magnet School, Dover Elementary School and Spoto High School where Jon spun the wheel and told dozens of students at each location that they have value and that if they will attend class, apply themselves and graduate that they truly can have a wonderful future ahead of them. And more than a few of the students went back to class with some serious prizes too.
95% of the participating exhibitors and vendors said they want to give it another go, and many promised to step up their game in the planning and execution so that the event can positively impact the lives of even more students next year at Hillsborough County Fairgrounds from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on April 25th, 2020 and it is going to be absolutely amazing!!!

Lakeside Plastics employees have raised almost $20,000 over 15 years for the Windsor Downtown Mission through various fundraising events. The employees participate in monthly dress down days and hold bake sales, food sales, and raffles. In 2010, they donated their largest gift of $8,000. One beneficiary of the Mission's services is Sam, a 62-year-old man who immigrated to Canada 22 years ago and is now relying on the Mission during financial difficulties.
The Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers held three Christmas celebrations to benefit over 3,000 homeless and hungry individuals. At events in Miami, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach, volunteers provided gifts, entertainment, and meals. Donations from organizations and individuals helped supply toys, clothing, and other gifts. The celebrations aimed to spread holiday joy and show love to those who may not feel lovable.
Snead State Community College students from Alabama traveled to Miami to support students affected by the Haiti earthquake and formed lasting friendships. Later, students from Miami Dade College visited Snead State in Alabama and continued bonding and learning about each other's cultures through various activities. The partnership helped students realize they had more in common than differences despite coming from different backgrounds.
