Hosted by: UM St. Joseph Medical Center is an approved pro- vider of continuing nursing education by the Mary- land Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Com- mission on Accreditation. This activity is awarded 14.75 contact hours. The Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (CBC-AANN) is solely responsible for the development, administration, and evaluation of the SCRN Exam Review Course. Course participants are not re- quired to be members of a national or lo- cal chapter of AANN. Two years of experi- ence in working with stroke patients is suggested. Completion of this course does not guarantee certification. The American Board of Neuroscience Nurses (ABNN) is the independent, not- for-profit corporation established to de- sign, implement, and evaluate a certifica- tion program for professional nurses in- volved in the specialty practice of neuro- science nursing and its subspecialties. ABNN promotes the practice and contri- butions made by neuroscience nurses to the health of the nation through the certi- fication of registered nurses. SCRN® is a registered trademark of ABNN. - 2. Course Description The SCRN®Exam Review Course is a 2 day workshop designed to assist candidates for the SCRN® certification in preparing for the SCRN® Exam. Multiple speakers will present topics covering the eight domains of stroke nurs- ing as described by the ABNN. Printed copies of the lecture materials and practice test questions will be provided to each participant. Continental breakfast and boxed lunch will be served on both days. Dates Day 1: March 20, 2015 0800—1630 Day 2: March 27, 2015 0800 –1630 Sign-in starts at 0730 each day. Stroke Certified Registered Nurse Scope The course will provide in depth instruc- tion on core stroke nursing principles in caring for patients across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. Topics Topics will encompass the eight domains of stroke nursing care as described by the ABNN: Domain 1: Anatomy and Physiology Domain 2: Preventative Care Domain 3: Hyperacute Care Domain 4: Stroke Diagnostics Domain 5: Acute Care Domain 6: Medications Domain 7: Post-acute Care Domain 8: Systems and Quality A detailed outline of exam topics and exam windows is available in the 2015 SCRN Candidate Handbook and Exam Application, which can be downloaded from the AANN website.
