BGT SUSAN BOYLE SCRIPT
Simon : Hi! What's your name, darling?
Susan : My name is Susan Boyle
Simon : OK, Susan, where are you from?
Susan : I am from Blackburn, near Bathgate West Lothian.
Simon : Is it a big town?
Susan : It's a sort of collection of...a collection of ah...villages.
Simon : And how old are you Susan?
Susan : I am forty-seven...(swinging the waist)...and that's just one side of me!!!
Simon : (Wow!) OK. What's the dream?
Susan : I've been trying to be a professional singer.
Simon : Why hasn't it worked out so far, Susan?
Susan : Because, I haven't been given a chance before, but here’s, I’m hoping
it will all change.
Simon : OK and who would you like to be as successful as?
Susan : Elaine Paige.
Simon : Elaine Paige.
Piers : What are you going to sing tonight?
Susan : I am going to sing, "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables.
Piers : (Big song!)
I DREAMED A DREAM SUSAN BOYLE
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song un-sung no wine un-tasted.
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather.
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream, I dreamed.

Amanda : Wooiii ...!!
Piers : Come back here...!
Simon : All right. Thank you very much, Susan. Piers.
Piers : Without a doubt, that was the biggest surprise I have had in three years of
the show. When you stood there with that cheeky grin and said "I want to
be like Elaine Paige", everyone was laughing at you. No one is laughing
now, That was stunning. An incredible performance. Amazing. I am
reeling. I’m shocked. How about you two?
(Susan gestured a flying kiss to judge Piers)
Amanda : I'm so thrilled because I know everybody was against you. I honestly think
that we were all being very cynical and I think that’s the biggest wake up
call ever. I just want to say that it was a complete privileged, listening to
that. It was extreme privileged.
(Susan whispered, "Thank you very much!" to the judge Amanda's comment and
audience applauded)

Simon : Susan, I knew the minute you walked out...
Susan : Oh, Simon!
Simon : ...on that stage that we were going to hear something extraordinary
(two judges laugh out loud and the audience) and I was right. Susan, you
are a little tiger, aren't you?
Susan : I don’t know about that!
Simon : The moment of truth. Piers, yes or no?
Piers : The biggest yes, I have ever given anybody.
(Susan showed a very big smile and audience applauded)
Simon : Amanda?
Amanda : Yes, definitely. It's brilliant.
Susan : Amanda, you too. (surprised to hear the second yes)
Simon : Susan, you can go back to your village, with your head held high. Its 3
yeses.
