The Scarecrow is being used from a book for a spring writing unit. Students worked in pairs to generate vocabulary to describe a good scarecrow and an evil scarecrow. They then shared their words with the class so others could add them to their own writing journals.

We are using The Scarecrow from Alan Peat’s Writing Exciting Ghost
Stories for our Spring Writing Unit.
My class are generating vocabulary for a ‘good’ scarecrow and an ‘evil’
scarecrow in pairs. They then share their vocabulary with the rest of the
class, who have the opportunity to ‘magpie’ the words and phrases,
recording their own word bank in their writing journals.
