The San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority and Santa Clara Valley Water District are considering two options to replace the Pope-Chaucer Street Bridge that would require constructing up to 2,400 linear feet of floodwalls along the creek. Floodwalls will damage many heritage trees and change the natural environment. A community meeting will be held to discuss alternative solutions that protect both the creek and local trees from the proposed floodwall plans. An environmental impact count found over 100 significant trees, including 60 live oaks and other heritage trees, would be endangered by the current proposals.
