DigitalGlobe captured satellite images of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant before and after an explosion at the No. 3 reactor building on March 14, 2011. Images taken 1 minute before show the reactor building intact, while images taken 3 minutes after show substantial damage, including the building's upper structure destroyed and a smoke plume drifting east over 2 kilometers. This was the second major explosion at the facility following one at the No. 1 reactor building on March 12.
