Safa Boodhan gave a talk to her classmates on the topic of death. She emphasized that death is inevitable and can come unexpectedly at any time. She reminded them that this world is temporary, while the afterlife is eternal, so they should focus on preparing for the afterlife through obeying God. She warned that if they are attached only to worldly possessions and not ready to sacrifice them when death comes, then they are not living for the purpose of this life, which is a test. She urged them to regularly reflect on death to motivate repentance, contentment, and not competing for worldly gains.

2. Intoduction
This worldly life nothing but a trial and a day will certainly come when the
whole universe shall be destroyed and all the dead shall be raised and
resurrected before Allah (swt). And that day will be the beginning of a life that
will never end. But are we prepared for the eternal life after death? Or are we
enslaved to serve our whims and desires? This is because we often forget that
we have a very short life span in this world and tend to deny it and become
slaves of our own passion and desires.
And such a person realize their foolishness only at the time of their death and
wish to be given a further chance in this world; but only then would they be in
vain and in a miserable state at the time of death.
For those who live a life only for the hereafter; Allah (swt) will shower His
mercy on those who suffered for His sake in the world; believing that an
eternal bliss is awaiting them. But those who abused the bounties of Allah,
caring nothing for the life to come, will be in the most miserable state.

3. Aims and objectives
My aim of this anjuman is firstly to please Allah (swt) and to get closer to Him
and then to better myself from the message that I intend to deliver to my
classmates and teachers.
And I hope that my message will reach everyone’s heart as well as mines so
that we can become better servants and be more obedient to Allah (swt).

4. All praise is for allah (swt). We praise Him and we glorify Him. And I testify
that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad (saw) is his servant and
messenger.
My intention and my purpose of being before you today is to make us all wake
up, realize, understand and remember that thing, that very thing that will
bring all the pleasures of this world to an end. And that thing is called “Al-mawt’’
or “death’’
Certainly without a doubt every one of us has to die at an appointed time. But
Does anyone of us ever go to sleep ever thinking if we would ever wake up to
see the next day or do we ever wake up on a morning ever thinking if “this’’
day will be the very last day of our life. And right now we’re present in this
gathering, but can you guarantee that you will be able see that very person
who is sitting right next to you tomorrow or ;for another day of school on
Monday?
The answer to my question cannot get simpler than no. Why? Because death is
a reality that will hit and face every living thing that Allah (swt) has created.
Because Allah (swt) says in surah Al – Imran: 185
“Every soul will taste death. And we test you with evil and with good as trial;
and to Us you will be returned.’’

5. And death is something that comes unexpected and is unpredictable, and can
come to us at any place and at anytime. Because Allah (swt) says in surah
A’raaf:187
“ no one can expose its time except him”
My dear respective sisters in islam, death is something that cannot be delayed,
not even for a second , a minute, an hour, not even a day. Why? Because Allah
(swt) will never delay in commanding the angel of death in taking the soul of a
person.
We can be be doing almost anything. Eating, sleeping, playing, relaxing and
laughing with our friends; and next thing you know your time is up and you
find the angel of death standing before you.
My question to you is…are you ready to die? If the angel of death was about to
take your soul in the very next split second; can you say that you’re ready to
die?
Are you ready to sacrifice everything that you have worked soo hard for this
world. Be it money, your most expensive of cars or even the most stylish of
houses. Are you ready to sacrifice all of this and leave all of this behind?
If not; then that means that we’re living a life for this world. Why are we living
a life of this world when we should be using this worlds as a steppingstone in
preparing ourselves for the hereafter.
The life of this world is only and nothing but a test. If the life of this world was
created for work and trials don’t you think that the hereafter was created for
judgment, compensation and reward.
An example is if we’re working for someone, then at end of the week or at the
end of the month we would get our salary depending on how we work. This
world is the same thing; depending on how we live our life in this world
obeying the laws of Allah (swt). That’s how we would be rewarded in the
hereafter.

6. And if we’re living a life for this world we need to remove that thing which is
attached to our hearts; wether it is money or expensive cars, whatever it is we
need to remove that attraction and start judging our own selves and ask what
relationship do we have with our deeds?
Can we guarantee that we have enough good deeds to tip our scale on the day
of judgment? Or will our “sayyiaat’’ and evil deeds be of a greater amount on
that day?
Or will our book of deeds be filled with good deeds and virtues or will it be
filled with bad deeds and sins?
These are all questions that we should often ask ourselves.
And many of times we are reminded of death; in movies, stories, ahadeeth
and even in daily incidents. But they are not there to scare us or to make us
sad; but they are there to serve as a reminder for us that is our life is crooked
it needs to be straighten out; and it needs to be done before our appointed
time reaches us.
Death is something we need to keep in mind at all times and by doing so it will
help us to get closer to Allah (swt)
I’d like to end by saying (3) benefits of remembering death:
1) It hastens us towards repentance
2) It makes us content with what Allah(swt) have given to us
3) We will not compete with what others have and for worldly benefit.
I pray that Allah(swt) gives us all a death on imaan in a manner that is most
pleasing to him. AMEEN
