This Russian federal freeway connecting Moscow to Yakutsk in Siberia has no asphalt pavement, causing it to become paralyzed during rainy weather. Photos showed approximately 600 cars that were stuck in the mud for days, with passengers suffering from hunger and lack of fuel. Construction crews were afraid to work on repairs after previous workers were beaten by stranded motorists who had been stuck for days and broken into cars to find food and warm clothes out of desperation. Gasoline, food, guns, and steel cables were necessities along the unpaved and hazardous road.
