Continuous Tense
Rules:
• First form of verb is used
• -ing is used. For example, eating
• Helping verbs (which are is, are, am) are used
• For negative sentences, not is used after the helping
verb.
• For singular noun, is is used (for example, Ben is
cooking for us.)
• For a plural noun, are is used ( for example, Ben and
Tom are cooking for us)
• When talking about your own self, am is used (for
example, I am cooking for Ben and Tom)

Examples
• Sam is playing football.
• I am doing my homework, so I can’t
play right now.
• It is raining heavily outside.
