AI has great promise for improving operations in the oil and gas industry. It can provide 24/7 supervision of field assets through visual analytics, optimize plant performance using digital twins to run virtual simulations, and accelerate access to engineering information by capturing past work. AI can also improve morale by using robots to perform low-value tasks currently done by humans.
The annual GPU Technology Conference focused on the promising field of deep learning in 2015. And we made four major announcements that will fuel its advancement: Titan X, the world's fastest GPU; DIGITS DevBox, GPU deep learning platform; Pascal GPU architecture; NVIDIA DRIVE PX, deep learning platform for self-driving cars. The press responded to these announcements with quotes, featured in this presentation, including ones from Mashable, Forbes, re/code, and The Wall Street Journal. The week-long event was shared in astounding numbers with many blog posts and streaming keynotes.

Test driving event-driven apps on kubernetes with kind, tekton, and knativeLeon Stigter
As developers, we all want to be more productive. Knative, a Kubernetes based platform to deploy and manage modern serverless works, helps to do just that. The idea behind Knative is to abstract away the complexity of building apps on top of Kubernetes as much as possible and Tekton is a powerful and flexible open-source CI/CD tool. How can you bring those two together on your local machine to try a few things out or even develop your apps? During this talk, we looked at setting up a KinD cluster, bootstrapping Knative and Tekton, and deploying an app!

An infographic I created for OWN that accompanied a campaign proposal with the intention of increasing viewers, website visitors and custom content associated with the brand. Some of these concepts were implemented right away. Others, have taken time and I've seen them pop up on social media.
The concept is to treat your / OWN's content creation campaign (visibility + WOM + increased metrics) as if it were a book launch JV campaign.
Many folks in the marcomm industry struggle with formulating and activating a campaign like this. It takes time, research, ample coordination across multiple channels - but - it is genius in action when facilitated properly.

In this deck from the 2016 Stanford HPC Conference, Kurt Keville from R&D Labs at MIT presents: Introduction to RISC-V.
"Today’s server systems provide many knobs which influence energy efficiency and performance. Some of these knobs control the behavior of the operating systems, whereas others control the behavior of the hardware itself. Choosing the optimal configuration of the knobs is critical for energy efficiency. In this talk recent research results will be presented, including examples of big data applications that consume less energy when dynamic tuning is employed."
Kurt works on optimizing HPC codes for educational and institutional (R&D labs) purposes at MIT. He assesses new supercomputing hardware as part of his responsibilities. He has published in IEEE conferences and journals and he teaches embedded programming once a year. Kurt has a BS from West Point and an MS from MIT.

Agile Data Engineering: Introduction to Data Vault 2.0 (2018)Kent Graziano
(updated slides used for North Texas DAMA meetup Oct 2018) As we move more and more towards the need for everyone to do Agile Data Warehousing, we need a data modeling method that can be agile with us. Data Vault Data Modeling is an agile data modeling technique for designing highly flexible, scalable, and adaptable data structures for enterprise data warehouse repositories. It is a hybrid approach using the best of 3NF and dimensional modeling. It is not a replacement for star schema data marts (and should not be used as such). This approach has been used in projects around the world (Europe, Australia, USA) for over 15 years and is now growing in popularity. The purpose of this presentation is to provide attendees with an introduction to the components of the Data Vault Data Model, what they are for and how to build them. The examples will give attendees the basics:
• What the basic components of a DV model are
• How to build, and design structures incrementally, without constant refactoring

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.
