idea from as many participants as you can in ten minutes.
Concept Cards: On the back, choose a word or phrase that stands out to
you from your Alpha Boxes (something you have learned or find

Editor's Notes
There are several forms that are used to document RTA information. In addition to the PEP and Reading 3D Student Summaries, teachers must maintain a Portfolio Score Sheet for students that are completing a student portfolio. Once a student successfully passes the required number of passages the Recommendation for promotion form must be completed. At the end of the year, after the EOG a proficiency form must be completed and turned into Jackie Jacobs in Elementary Education. This form has been shared with coaches and administrators but must be printed out and sent in to Jackie Jacobs at the end-of-the-year. This process is explained on the Read to Achieve Documentation Checklist which can be found on the C&I Website.
Portfolio Score Summary Sheet has been shared electronically.

Please order these forms as soon as possible. Print shop is often backed up over the summer and waiting could delay delivery for the beginning of the year. There is a moratorium on supplemental materials and your principal will be notified when they are allowed to place orders. Postpone ordering the TRC Written Comprehension questions until the updated version is approved from DPI.

You will find an optional staff activity that you may want to do with your folks. It is a fun way to review all of the pathways to proficiency for 3rd graders. It is important that many on your staff (test coordinators, SST members, 3rd grade teachers, 4th grade teachers, parents etc) are aware of the pathways when talking with parents
Allow participants to mingle and complete the Alpha boxes with what they know. Get one get one for 3 minutes. Do you have more than you had before? Flip your sheet and fold into four parts. Write a word, phrase or concept that really stands out and then create a visual representation demonstrating your understanding of the concept.
