OpenStreetMap as base layer in a linked open data distribution platform - Ber...OSMFstateofthemap
The CitySDK Mobility API is a layer-based data distribution and service kit, which makes European mobility data and services interoperable. The API is part of CitySDK, a project funded by the European Union in which eight cities and more than 20 organisations collaborate.
The CitySDK Mobility API makes it possible for developers and data owners to access and modify mobility data (e.g. public transport schedules, real-time traffic data, planned roadwork and parking space availability) through a uniform interface, in Amsterdam, Manchester, Helsinki and Rome alike. The API links different datasets from different data sources to addressable objects in a city, such as train stations, bus stops, roads and neighbourhoods.
Many of those objects exist in the OpenStreetMap database; the CitySDK Mobility API uses OSM as a geospatial base layer to which it links data from other datasets. For example: GTFS schedules, Open311 service requests and real-time weather information can all be linked to a OSM node with the ""highway=bus_stop"" tag, making it very easy for data owners, city officials and developers to find and access data about the same object across different data sets.

Mark Zöpfgen: Software-Supported Bibliographic Recording and Linked Datambruemmer
Mark Zöpfgen (German National Library) presented their library activities in content extraction and semantic web. They maintain the National Bibliography, which contains all national print and electronic publications since 1913. They produce an authority file (called GMD “Gemeinsame Normdatei”) with metadata. Activities in content extraction and semantic web comprise several projects. In these they build an ontology for generating the data and which enables a multilingual access to subjects in order to make the German National Library internationally available. Manual effort is also invested in providing high quality translations of the subject headings of the bibliographical records into English and French. So far, an Open Linked Data Service for spreading the data is available and downloadable in RDF format under creative commons zero license. The main goals of the German National Library comprise the following topics:
-constant improvement of the poor formal state of the bibliographical highly reliable data.
-building an integrated portal with search engine and linked data.
-integration of German bibliographical data into The European Library and finding standards for the provision in the linked data format.
-increase precision of multi-language term mappings under the assumption that there is rarely 1-1 matching.
-the motivation of external parties to work with RDF data and improve search possibilities.
Project Description of the Linked Open Data (LOD) PILOT Austria - presented at the PiLOD event at VU Amsterdam (Netherlands) on 29.01. 2014 (see: http://www.pilod.nl/) by Martin Kaltenböck of Semantic Web Company.
This presentation introduces OWLIM semantic repository at DM2E project meeting, held in Vienna in November 2012. Ontotext entered the DM2E consortium as associated partner.

H2020 BigDataEurope is a flagship project of the European Union's Horizon 2020 framework programme for research and innovation. In this talk we present the Docker-based BigDataEurope platform, which integrates a variety of Big Data processing components such as Hive, Cassandra, Apache Flink and Spark. Particularly supporting the variety dimension of Big Data, it adds a semantic data processing layer, which allows to ingest, map, transform and exploit semantically enriched data. In this talk, we will present the innovative technical architecture as well as applications of the BigDataEurope platform for life sciences (OpenPhacts), mobility, food & agriculture as well as industrial analytics (predictive maintenance). We demonstrate how societal value can be generated by Big Data analytics, e.g. making transportation networks more efficient or facilitating drug research.

0x01 - Newton's Third Law: Static vs. Dynamic AbusersOWASP Beja
f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.

Have you ever wondered how search works while visiting an e-commerce site, internal website, or searching through other types of online resources? Look no further than this informative session on the ways that taxonomies help end-users navigate the internet! Hear from taxonomists and other information professionals who have first-hand experience creating and working with taxonomies that aid in navigation, search, and discovery across a range of disciplines.
This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.

Aim: New positioning of libraries as partners in education
and science
First: Future cataloging will not take place in regional
cataloguing systems but in internationally oriented
environments using international metadata
standards.
Second: Today‘s ILS will (almost) entirely migrate into
cloudbased systems.
Third: A „national data window“ will be established to back
up data in a system under national law and to allow
for services solely needed for national purposes. 5
