St. Andrews Cathedral
Lighting Appeal: Donation Form
The Appeal
Illuminating the cathedral will benefit the local
community by making one of St Andrews’
most iconic historical features even more
beautiful and well-known. Making the ruins
visible at night will add another striking
element of beauty to the St Andrews skyline,
particularly in the darker winter months, when
all our local residents will most appreciate the
spectacular view.
Who is involved in this project?
The Cathedral is maintained by Historic Environ-
ment Scotland (HES), who ensure the property is
looked after for the benefit of future generations
and welcome visitors throughout the year. St
Andrews Partnership (SAP), a well-established
local charity, is undertaking the fundraising for
new lights, with the approval of HES.
How much are we trying to raise?
The current target amount is £190,000 - this will
pay for the purchase, installation, maintenance
and running costs of high-quality and enegy-
efficient LED lights for the next 15 years so that
the successful completion of this project will
keep benefitting our community for years to
come.

St Andrews Cathedral is one of Scotland’s
most spectacular and memorable sights. The
Cathedral ruins were at one time beautifully
floodlit, but the lights were decommissioned
around 10 years ago. We are now raising funds
to install new, high-quality lighting which will
illuminate the beautiful architecture in the
future.

relics of St Andrew, Scotland’s patron saint are
said to have been brought here. The graveyard
surrounding the cathedral is the permanent
