This document summarizes key findings from a qualitative study on the sexual decision-making of men who purchase sex in Vietnam. The following main points were found: 1. Male peer groups normalize visiting sex workers as a common practice. Alcohol and peer pressure are strong influences on men's decisions to purchase sex. 2. Married men cited dissatisfaction with home life and a desire to try new experiences as reasons for seeing sex workers. Unmarried men said it strengthened bonds with friends. 3. Factors like career success, sexual experience and the ability to balance family and social life were seen as traits of a "real man." Having multiple sexual partners was viewed positively. 4.
