3Thursday, January 1, 2015 THE WEST AUSTRALIAN
STARS OF 2015LIAM
GRAHAM
After spending the
past two years
quietly working
away on a range of
features, shorts and
TV series, Liam
Graham will be
rewarded when a
bunch of his
projects are
released this year.
The Leederville
actor, 27, has a lead
role in Southern noir
flick The Burning
Kiss alongside
fellow Perth star
Alyson Walker and
also appears in short
film Fish, which will
be on ABC2 soon.
The versatile
performer has a
penchant for dark,
gritty dramas,
evidenced by roles
in Italian-style
horror Sororal,
which is doing the
rounds at
international film
festivals, and
upcoming Swedish
TV series Greenfield.
GEORGIA GIBBS
After making it to the top 24 on Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013
and last year becoming a national Miss Universe Australia finalist,
the sky’s the limit on where Georgia Gibbs will go in 2015. The
Wanneroo beauty recently moved to Melbourne, where she has
been busy building up her modelling portfolio and exploring
presenting opportunities. But the 19-year-old is currently further
afield in Malaysia vying for the international Miss Tourism title after
taking out the Australian contest in late 2014.
TOPAZ BERGER
With a strong social media
following and at least two fan
pages dedicated to her, Topaz
Berger’s exotic looks have
already sparked the interest of
international industry
watchers. The 14-year-old
model, who is signed to
Chadwick’s Perth, came out of
development last year and hit
the ground running with a
spread of runway shows and
shoots. The Perth College
student was recently chosen
as the face of the Fremantle
Fashion Collective and she has
already expressed interest in
getting into acting in the
future.
LIZZY KAY
She has only just entered her teens but WA’s
Lizzy Kay is determined to conquer Hollywood.
The pint-sized performer packed her bags for LA
last year and hasn’t look back after she was
accepted into a prestigious Californian high
school with a specialist performing arts program.
This year, the 13-year-old will appear in the
Robert Connolly-directed flick Paper Planes plus
Aussie feature Twisted Minds. And she will
continue to work with US acting coach Hallie
Todd, who is known for her work on the Lizzie
McGuire series.
JACOB
BROWN
Not many 14-year-olds
can say they have been
flown to Canada to star
in a film without even
auditioning but it was a
reality for Jacob Brown
last year. The Atwell
actor was hand-picked
to join the cast of
upcoming thriller The
Pineville Heist based on
a single Skype session
with director Lee
Chambers. In between
classes at John Curtin
College of the Arts and
coaching in Los
Angeles, Brown has also
found time to appear in
family drama Paper
Planes, which stars Sam
Worthington and
Nicole Trunfio, and ABC
documentary Yagan.
