This document provides an overview of a scientist's background and work. It details their educational history, including obtaining a Licenciatura de Física in 2004, a Master's in Applied Physics in 2006, and a PhD in Physics focusing on soft condensed matter in 2009. As a post-doctoral researcher from 2009-2013, they studied liquid crystals and phase separating molecular mixtures. They are currently a doctoral assistant researching biophysics, biosensors, biomimetic cell membranes, and how amyloid peptides interact with and depend on lipid membranes and their properties. The scientist employs various techniques in their work like electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Jena is a young, energetic high school teacher who teaches optional music classes using both traditional and new technologies. She cares about her students and understands how music benefits them, but is frustrated when their family priorities interfere. Laurel-Anne is a gentle private piano teacher who enjoys teaching but few students stay long-term. She teaches popular songs to keep students interested although she prefers classical music. David is learning piano reluctantly to get high school credit but prefers pop music. His mother wants him to play in church. Xavier has played music his whole life and enjoys performing, but his parents question its practicality as a career. Janet is a retired teacher taking piano lessons and wants to perform in an upcoming concert but is nervous about audiences
This document provides an overview of writing, listening, and critical thinking skills related to constructing arguments and essays. It discusses introducing and concluding essays, differentiating main and supporting ideas, predicting lecture focus and listening for supporting details, and providing concrete evidence. An assignment at the end instructs students to take notes while listening, as note taking is useful for comprehending information.
What Are The Differences Among Quoting, ParaphrasingUfuk Solmazlar
The document discusses the differences between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing source material. Quotes must match the original word-for-word, while paraphrasing puts the source into one's own words and summaries distill the main idea into a shorter overview. Both paraphrasing and summarizing require attribution to the original source. The document also provides guidance on how to properly paraphrase through restating the essential information in a new form while avoiding plagiarism.
The document provides guidance on summarizing texts using the MIDAS technique:
1) Identify the main idea by finding the topic sentence or using signal words.
2) Identify supporting details.
3) Disregard unimportant information and simplify what remains.
It then gives examples summarizing paragraphs about tornadoes, dust devils, hurricanes, and typhoons. While dust devils are weak, hurricanes and typhoons are large storms. Tornadoes are brief but have the fastest winds.
Unit 3 focuses on avoiding repetition of words in writing. It discusses using synonyms and lexical cohesion to connect ideas without repeating words. The unit also covers writing discussion essays, which include different points of view around an opinion, such as advantages and disadvantages or evidence for and against a view. It explains the difference between argument and discussion essays and discusses using noun groups and clauses for variety.
Global sourcing entails identifying, evaluating, negotiating and configuring supply across multiple geographies to reduce costs, maximize performance and mitigate risks. It requires balancing factors like cost, performance, and risk, which are heightened when sourcing globally due to additional complexities. Supply managers must understand classifications like Harmonized System codes and International Commerce Terms that define responsibilities for cross-border shipping. Indian retail chains are now stepping up global sourcing from locations like China, Malaysia, and Europe to shore up margins and offer lower prices.
The document provides guidance on writing a response paper, which involves critically analyzing a text by summarizing its key ideas, stating an opinion on part of the text, and supporting that opinion with evidence from the text. It outlines the steps to writing a good response paper, which include reading the text twice to understand the main topic and author's argument, forming opinions on the text's claims and evidence, drafting a summary, and writing a first draft of the response paper expressing agreement, disagreement, or evaluation of the text's strengths and weaknesses. The document also reviews methods for paraphrasing texts, such as changing vocabulary, verb forms, word classes, and synthesizing information.
Acquisition & Retention Strategy for an Online CampaignRajat Chadda
This document discusses a marketing case analysis for an online consumer program targeting 40-60 year olds. The campaign has an annual budget of $500,000 and objectives to acquire 50,000 paid members over 1 year and retain 40,000 of those members over the next 6 months. It outlines the campaign highlights, tasks at hand including a targeted acquisition strategy, campaign success measures, and a sample metrics dashboard. The acquisition strategy involves calculating acquisition costs and customer lifetime values for different marketing channels and customer segments to optimize spending. Success measures include status metrics like growth rates as well as decision-aiding metrics like regressions and perceptual maps. Sample dashboards are proposed for the CEO and analysts with different levels of detail.
