PROJECT EXPERIENCE:
Harmonic Concerns Due to High Penetration of Distributed Generation (DG)
• Lead a team of five in confirming the presence of harmonic currents from distributed generation.
• I designed a 15 bus test system with a total of 750 kW from Solar and analyzed percentage harmonics in the system.
• The percent distortion was decreased to within the IEEE limits using solutions such as Active and Passive filters.
• My main tasks included delegating tasks, prioritizing work load and overseeing project from start to finish.
• I also learned how to work in a team environment in which each individual’s skills are directed towards a common goal.
Water Level and Temperature Control System
• A negative feedback system was created to achieve a desired water level of 10 cm and a temperature of 78° in a water bucket.
• For this system, I used block diagrams and flowcharts to allow proper and timely execution of each component in the system
• I learned how to manage my time by completing the assignment despite some challenges as this was a three week long project.
• I also learned how to use my resources by seeking help from mentors and professors after attempting to solve it myself.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Gas Turbine Remote Operator Wellhead Electric 12/15-Present
• Started, stopped and monitored Gas Turbine plants visa remote control in response to instructions from CAISO and plant technicians.
• Observed conditions of Gas Turbines periodically as well as any abnormal conditions during operation of plants.
• My responsibilities as an operator have given me a chance to become more detail oriented and a better decision maker.
• I have learned how to work in a high stress environment by operating more than three plants at once and monitoring conditions.
Operations Engineering Services Intern California ISO 06/15-08/15
•Modeled transmission lines, transformers, and generators into an aggregate model using CAISO’s Energy Management System.
• Created path filters which flagged equipment such as lines, breakers, transformers, and switches for outage studies.
• Grasped an understanding of utility fundamentals such as transmission lines and substation equipment maintenance.
• I learned about the Electric Market and how power is sold many times before it is actually consumed.
Member Service Representative II SAFE Credit Union 08/11-06/14
• Experienced in selling products and services to fit the member needs in addition to completing weekly and monthly audit reports.
• Provided excellent member service by accepting and processing deposits, withdrawals and payments according to SAFE’s policies.
• Experienced in handling large sums of money and balancing personal cash drawer while working in a fast paced environment.
• Experienced in working with others by coaching, developing, and maintaining positive staff relations.
• Treasurer, CSUS Power and Energy Society
