14 days on, 14 days off, 12hrs/day, working with a team of HVAC mechanics,
alongside other trades.
• Refrigeration/AC Apprentice (4th
year) – Guthrie Mechanical – (Syncrude), Fort
McMurray, Alberta, 06/13/10 – 05/24/11: Working on window shakers, wall
units and other air conditioning equipment in camp rooms, and refrigeration
equipment in kitchens and cafeterias at Syncrude camp (Mildred Lake Village),
and on the site, itself. Installing/servicing equipment, ordering parts and in

schedule, trading shifts with another mechanic.
• Refrigeration/AC Apprentice (3rd
year) – FMR Mechanical – Fort McMurray,
Alberta, 06/16/09 – 04/28/10: Working on rooftop heating and air conditioning
equipment, furnaces, walk-ins, and some work on racks. Ordering (parts),
installing and servicing. Running a company van/truck, and working (with a
journeyman) on the various oil sands sites/telecommunications out
buildings/camps up to over 300 kms away from town.
• Refrigeration/AC Apprentice (2nd
year) – Eastwing Products – Dartmouth, Nova
Scotia, 07/30/08 – 06/10/09: Installing and maintaining heat pumps, rooftop
units, and HRV’s. Maintaining and running service/install van and practicing safe
work procedures.
• HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) Installer/Roof Insulator - Kent Homes - Debert,
Nova Scotia, 04/05/04 – 23/12/05: Ran ventilation lines, installed HRV units and
blown insulation in modular homes, maintained insulation machine and
surrounding area. Assisted with rough drywall, crack fill, electrical, plumbing,
