PROJECTS
Project: STORE MANAGEMENT ROBOT
Team Size: 2
Description of Project
o This project is based on an idea for making store management of industries like
automobile and other industries.
o Robot contains electronics component like DC motor & driver for base and
mechanism, various sensors, Microcontrollers (AT mega 2560 & ATmega8), power
supply, pair of Bluetooth module and ps2 remote.
o Robot was made of aluminum and stainless steel sections.
o It contains mechanical component like Omni wheels, pneumatic gripper, rack and
pinion mechanism for up/down movement of gripper which is supported by LM guide
ways.
o Robot has four dc motor with Omni wheels mounted on them which help robot to
move in any direction with less effort. Motors have optical incremental encoders for
feedback control. Bluetooth helps us wireless control of robot.
Role:
o My role in this project was to developed hardware for all electronics interfacing like
control of pneumatic cylinder, motor speed control, Bluetooth module connections,
mechanism motors and limit switches, sensor interfacing.

o After developing hardware for interfacing various peripherals I had C code in Atmel
studio developed algorithms like:
Ps2 remote interfacing code.
For wireless control of robot.
Closed loop control of dc motor.
Navigation of Omni direction robot.
Gripper up/down mechanism control.
Algorithm for safety with help of sensors.
Project: NATIONAL ROBOCON 2012-15(THE NATIONAL ROBOTICS COMPITION, INDIA)
Team Size: 20 to 30 Members with 10 to 12 from Electronic Division
Description of Project:
o It is an international level robotics competition held by ABU (Asia pacific Broadcast
Union), in which a particular theme or task given by host country. We have to
complete task in 3 min.
o First this competition held at national level, the winner of national level competes with
other country’s winner at international level.
o In each year's theme we have to make one manual robot and one or two automatic
robot.
o For this competition we make a team of around 30 students from different branches
and trained by senior team members with knowledge of robotics, role of mechanical
and electronics in robotics, how to apply this knowledge to complete robot.
o In India every year over 80 teams take part and compete each other.
o The themes were
ROBOCON-2015:
Theme was “Robominton”. Host country was Vietnam.
In this theme we had to build two robots which were able to
play badminton and compete with opponent team.
ROBOCON-2014:
Theme was “salute to parenthood”. Host country was India.
The theme as its name suggest based on parenthood. In
this theme we had to build one parent robot (manual robot)
and one child robot (automatic robot). There was a park
theme in which the parent robot carries child robot and
complete task one by one.

ROBOCON-2013:
Theme was “Green Planet”.
In this theme we had to build two robots. One Manual and
one automatic.
ROBOCON-2012:
Theme was “Peng On Dai Gat”. This theme is based on Hong
Kong’s festival.
In this theme we had to build three robot. One manual robot, two
automatic robots.
Role:
o Active member of Robocon team for last four years (2012-2015).During this period, I
learned about team work, how team can achieve goals, and as a lead, how to
distribute work among team.
o I joined college’s team in year 2012. In this year I learned about basic knowledge of
components used in electronics like use of resisters, capacitors, transistors etc. Also I
learned soldering of components and basic knowledge of microcontroller. It was my
first year in Robocon team so I was not given any big tasks. I was given tasks of
inventory management.
o In year 2013 I learned more about hardware development, selection of component for
hardware, microcontroller programming in c language, sensors selection, dc motor
controlling, pneumatics device controlling. In this year I had developed hardware for
both robots with helpof senior members and implement it on general purpose board. I
learned how to debug hardware problems and how to fix them.
o In year 2014 I became ElectronicsHead of team. During that time my role was to train
other team member of electronics related branches with knowledge of hardware
development, debugging methods, microcontroller programming. In that time we first
time used Omni directional robot. So i learned about controlling methods of Omni
directional robot, algorithm development for Omni direction robot. Also this year we
had used LM guide in our robot. I also came to know about selection of DC motors,
calculation needed for it.
o In year 2015 I became Leader of team. During this year we faced so many troubles in
this year. As a team leader my main task was to lead the team into right direction.
During this time
I faced so many trouble while designing robot, managing fund, I have to learned how
to handle person with different attitudes, how to divide work among them, trained
them about electronics and
mechanical basics for robotics, fabrication of robot, development of hardware and

algorithm for robot, navigation Omni directional robot etc. During this time I learned
about how to lead a team, managing fund, distribution of work, time management.
