3. Background of the Study
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the workplace setting
changed upon lockdown implementation. Appropriate jobs
shifted to remote working and telecommunication. In addition,
education turned to online mode and distance learning. Also,
the accounting professionals change from office to work from
home. The accounting professionals use different coping
strategies to deal with the new normal situation, including
different conceptualizations of coping strategies such as
problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, social
support, and meaning-making.
4. According to some authors, the areas of coping strategies are the
following: A. Seeking social interaction (Problem-focused coping), B.
Emotional Coping (Emotion-focused coping), C. Motivation (Social
Support), and D. Managing stress (Meaning Making). (Caroll, 2013).
Every challenge has an impact, both positive and negative. The
accounting profession is facing numerous challenges as well as
opportunities for reinvention as a result of COVID-19. This pandemic has
an impact on accounting professionals' work and mental health. COVID-19
has impacted the entire accounting profession, putting additional strain on
the accounting profession's professional and ethical behavior. (Kaka,
2020).

Situation
14. ACTIVITIES INSTRUCTION OBJECTIVE RESULT
1. Your Voice
Counts (YVC)
Employees will be given a form to be filled up
where they can suggest and tell what they want
and feel in the workplace.
Everyone will voice out their
suggestions and concerns to
management about what they
feel at work.
Employees will feel more cared, heard and loved in the
workplace that will help them ease their stress.
2. 30 days of

blessings and will learn how to
look deeper into things.
Employees feel more positive emotions, relish good
experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity and build
strong relationships.

their mind and body. It will reduce
stress, anxiety and tension.
Employees will have a sense of calm, peace and balance that
can benefit both their emotional well-being and your overall
health.
15. Conclusion
1. The study on coping strategies of accounting professionals in the
new normal situation can be concluded that most of the respondents
are young adults because the majority of them are recent graduates,
dominated by male because the upper level management positions
remain primarily male oriented. single individuals since the
accounting professionals tend to pursue a career first before entering
the married life, and were engaged in the company for a year and
above accountants typically spend a year in entry- level positions
before moving up the ladder.
16. 2. The strategies of accounting professional to cope in
the new normal situation is by being motivated, seek
social support and by managing their stress. An
organization can produce more by having motivated
workers because they are more productive. Social
support is said to serve as a buffer against stress and
its negative impacts. Managing and preventing long-
term stress can reduce your risk for developing other
diseases. You can process and overcome painful or
unwanted emotions and reactions with the aid of
emotion-focused coping techniques.
17. 1.) The researchers recommend Implementing Mental Health Intervention
Program for the institution, specifically the school. This program’s goal is for
employees to relax their minds and let them know who supports them. During the
time of uncertainty, when routines are disrupted, we must identify who we feel
most supported by. Every academic year, four (4) essential activities will be given
to all employees ease their stress at work.
2.) Universities may consider continuing to implement the intervention program
given by researchers in connection with the new normal situations.
3.) Future researchers may conduct a study to improve the research topic by
using other variables that may affect the coping strategies of accounting
professionals and by considering how these factors influence the new normal
situations.
