 Preaching, an essential component
of bearing witness Christ.
 Preaching is an art, effective
preaching takes time, energy, and
tremendous skills to establish an
encounter with the Word.
 To preach well also requires
creativity and personal conviction.
 Preaching remains an essential
aspect of Christian witness and
mission even in our digital age.

3. I-JESUS THE PARABOLIC PREACHER
(PROPHET OF THE REIGN OF GOD)
 Jesus’ own disciples identified Him as a
prophet.
 Jesus also seemed to refer to Himself as a
prophet when he testified, “[A] prophet has
no honor in the prophet’s own country” (John
4:44; Atkins 2013, 281-282).
 Prophet is a reliable description of Jesus,
since this is attested in all four gospels and
throughout the New Testament.
 Parabole in Greek literally means “to set
beside” or “to throw beside”. That’s why
Jesus’ parable normally involve a comparison
between the everyday and transcendent, the
earthly and heavenly.

reconciliation with God
and people; restoring

relationship” with God

is a kingdom of

 Their primary role is to teach and testify of Jesus throughout the
world.
 The genres or types of speeches found in the Acts are diverse,
consisting of missionary, evangelizing, indictment, defense,
farewell, constitutive, and political speeches.
