Report text presents information about a topic in an organized, factual manner. It generally includes an opening statement to introduce and classify the subject, followed by facts about various aspects presented in sections or subclasses. Language features commonly found in report text are the use of nouns and noun phrases rather than pronouns, present tense verbs, some passive voice, technical terms where relevant, and descriptive rather than imaginative language through terms like color, shape, size and other objectively observable attributes.
