DESCRIPTION
Curator of composition, and avid attendant to articulation—both my own and that of others.
Proactive planner, robust researcher inclined to innovative exposition. Enterprising
problem solver with the mettle and moxie to hang in there and get the job done.
Determined to decipher the conundrum, reveal the practical resolution, and communicate
the significance of the outcome.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND
Most of my experiences have involved creative work on some level—either my own or
instructing others. But I’ve also acted in supporting roles for both educators and students,
my own experiences offering me a sliver of insight into the issues their work presents. In
the more administrative aspects of my work life, I am a quick study and skilled improviser
who often writes my way to the solution of difficult problems, and am frequently thinking at
least two steps ahead.
WORK HISTORY
Administrative coordinator in a university office. One-on-one writing tutor and supplemental
instructor in an Anthropology classroom. Jr. High art teacher and adult education
instructor. Writer—of everything from web articles, award-winning research papers,
newspaper op-eds; poetry, essays, and academic journal articles, blogs, and—just
recently—my first novel. I have presented my research at national conferences, spoken
before hundreds of people, and enjoyed a twenty-year career as a decorative artist—
mostly working in rooms by myself. A proficient student who earned two degrees (BA and
MA) in just over 5 years.
IMPORTANT OTHER
Lover of alliteration and language—in all its myriad modes. Early riser and desert hiker.
Quiet thinker and late night star gazer. Life-long diarist and enthusiastic ambassador for
the benefits of reflective writing. Always up for a friendly competition, stories that include
time travel, and anything with made with avocados.
