2. The premise for Replica Los Angeles was inspired by a photo
of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed taken by
photographer Mick Rock, which I had discovered many years
ago while designing my 1st solo collection. This served as a
launchpad to do some sweaters fashioned as 70ʼs rock t-shirts
— hence, 'Ziggy Iggy & Lou' --- graphically rendered in intarsia
knit.
The name ʻReplicaʼ, is a tongue-in-cheek reference to my 1st
go-around with this idea. Long wanting to expand on this
concept, Iʼve incorporated my musical influences including
glam rock, punk and Jamaican ska, along with my love for
Biba, seminal 70ʼs London boutique/brand Mr. Freedom, Pop
Art and graphic design, into a collection of vibrant and playful
fine gauge intarsia and printed sweater knits for Spring 2017.
