 RELIGION - the belief in and worship of
a superhuman controlling power,
especially a personal God or gods.
 RELIGION SYMBOL - is an iconic
representation intended to represent a
specific religion, or a specific concept
within a given religion.
Narratives
 A religion is an organized approach to
human spirituality which usually
encompasses a set of narratives,
symbols, beliefs and practices, often
with a supernatural or transcendent
quality, that give meaning to the
practitioner’s experiences of life
through reference to a higher power or
truth.
Belief Types
 Monotheism:
Monotheism is a religion that
acknowledges the existence of
only one god.
 Polytheism:
Polytheism is any religion that
honors more than one god, but
not in a dualistic relationship.

The Fish - In the bible, Jesus
refers to the apostles as
'fishers of men'.
Cross - It represents the
suffering of Christ who
purged the sins of Mankind
with His own blood.
BUDDHISM
Beliefs: Polytheistic, Meditation is
the key.
According to Eastern philosophy
(China, Korea, Japan), yin and yang
is the concept of the duality of
everything existing in the universe.
They are apparently opposing and
complementary forces, which are all
around us.
JUDAISM
Beliefs: Monotheistic
The Star of David - It is an
emblem of the Israeli flag
and marks Jewish graves.
The interlocking of the lines
represents the joining of
David and Benjamin.
ORTHODOXY
Beliefs: Monotheistic
The Orthodox Cross - It is the
eight-armed cross, which is also
called the crucifix. In the
Orthodox tradition, the feet of
Christ are not pierced by a
nail, as in the Catholic, but with
two nails: one for each foot.

Beliefs: Polytheistic
'Om' is a Hindu symbol that
stands for the entire Universe.
This symbol is actually a mantra
that is pronounced from the
core of your soul and represents
Lord Brahma, the creator of the
Universe.

Beliefs: Monotheistic
Star and Crescent
Symbol of a crescent moon with
a star on the concave side. The
two signs together are widely
used on the flags and badges of
Islamic countries and generally
represent Islam, but they are
traditional symbols of the
Turkish nation.

THE LATIN CROSS

Christian or Latin, it represents the
martyrdom of Jesus Christ and
therefore it is the symbol of the
Christian religion in general.
PAPAL CROSS
Also called the pontifical cross. It
has three crossbeams of different
length. It symbolizes the
authority of the Roman pontiff as
bishop of Rome, patriarch of the
West and successor of the
apostle St. Peter.
CROSS OF SAN PEDRO
It is an inverted Latin cross, based on the tradition
of the martyrdom of St. Peter the Apostle. At the
moment it is associated with anti-Christian groups
or related to the Satanism.
