Andrew Christophers was recruited in 2001 as the Purchasing Manager for a site undergoing significant change and was tasked with setting up the purchasing department from nothing. He successfully established a fully functioning purchasing department that improved spend reduction and payment terms. As Purchasing Manager, he provided a commercial perspective to management discussions. In 2002, he was chosen to manage the merged Purchasing and Logistics department, doing so with great success. The author enjoyed working with Andrew and values the major contribution he made to the site's success, recommending him to any future employer.

I recruited Andrew to the position of Purchasing Manager at the Carrington site
back in 2001. At the time, the site was undergoing a period of significant change,
as we had just acquired an adjacent plant. This was most evident in the
purchasing area as Andrew’s first task was to set up an entire stores and
purchasing system from nothing. I am pleased to say that he accepted the
challenge with relish and in a very short time we had a fully working purchasing
department including a new central stores manned by a team of knowledgeable
personnel. At the same time Andrew made significant improvements in
purchasing on site by reducing spend in many areas and obtaining much better
payment terms from vendors.
As Purchasing Manager Andrew was a member of the site management team and
I always appreciated the commercial perspective he brought to management
team discussions and decisions.
At the end of 2002, following some restructuring on site, it was decided to merge
the Purchasing and Logistics departments at Carrington. Andrew was an obvious
choice to manage the combined department, which he did with great success.
For the period that he reported to me Andrew made a major contribution to the
success of the site. I enjoyed working with him and valued the advice he gave
me through the many challenges which we faced. I unreservedly recommend him
to any future employer.
