To whom it may concern,
Line Eeg-Larsen worked as an intern for two days a week at the Statoil Washington DC Government Affairs office
from early September to early December 2013, as part of her exchange program at the American University in
Washington DC.
Line’s work assignments included review of various legislation and regulations pertaining to the oil and gas sector,
documenting her findings in written reports, and presenting them to her colleagues in the Statoil DC office.
She specifically prepared a thorough review of new legislative initiatives introduced during the first session of the
113th Congress related to several key issues, e.g. hydraulic fracturing, offshore access, etc. She also undertook a
large assignment to produce an in-depth memorandum on the broader regulation of offshore access for oil and gas
exploration. The final product included the history of the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf access, past and current
lease sales and the potential for increased access in the next 5-year lease plan. The memo described the positions
of various external stakeholders and the views of the current administration. This product was very helpful in
giving our team a better understanding and context for relevant policy decisions which could have a significant
impact on both our industry and our business.
Line showed great ability to independently pursue and structure the work related to the assignments given to her.
She worked diligently and proved to be very productive during the time spent at the office. Although working in an
unfamiliar setting, she quickly grasped the key issues and necessary institutional detail. The quality of her written
products were very good, combining clarity and focus on the key issues. She also proved to be a good colleague,
collaborative, easy-going and a pleasure to work with.
On this basis I endorse Line for her contributions to our office and wish her the best of luck in her future
endeavours.
Sincerely,
Jan K. Karlsen
Vice President, US Government Affairs
