Scientists in the late 1700s were fascinated by the idea of recreating life. They experimented with applying electricity to recently deceased animals and tissues in an attempt to reanimate them. While their experiments did not succeed in truly bringing the dead back to life, they helped lay the foundation for later scientific understanding of biology and electricity.
