RE: Letter of recommendation for Ms. Kammy V. Benham
November 1, 2013
I would like to recommend Kammy Benham, a valued Lecturer in the GIST Global Language Center (GLC),
for employment in your program. As the GLC has recently been disbanded due to bureaucratic changes at
GIST, it is my bittersweet pleasure to provide this recommendation. Since entering GIST in February 2010,
Kammy has proven herself to be a strong EdTech professional, keen to improve upon the framework of the
program she entered.
In brief, during her nearly 4 years at GIST Kammy has enabled our graduate-level writing and
presentation program to more effectively use Moodle-based applications. As our students often had duties
that required them to spend time in labs, or travel for conferences, the intent of our on-line resources was
to ensure that learning opportunities were consistently maintained. For this task, she has worked to record
lectures, edit these videos, and then present this material in a blended-learning environment. Due to her
skill in this area, Kammy has always received positive student evaluations, and indeed has been a core
presence in the development of our program.
Using her EdTech skillset, Kammy further enhanced the departmental website, created posters for
program courses and services, and oversaw the textbook materials developed for the Level I writing
textbook (with others planned). She has also created similar materials for incoming students in the School of
Information and Communications, and for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade—both of which have
been highly reviewed programs.
If you would like to further discuss Kammy’s qualifications for your position, please feel free to contact
me at the above information. I wish her nothing but continued success as she progresses in her career.
Sincerely,
John D. McDonald, MA
Senior Instructor, Curriculum Coordinator
