Rob beganworkingtowardhiscareerinaquatic biologywhile as anundergraduate atThomasMore
College,where he worked eachsummerasa tech at TMC’s Biological FieldStationonthe OhioRiver.
Duringthat time he became familiarwithmanyof the techniquesandprojectsusedtoproduce datafor
biological monitoringandassessment. Aftergraduationhe earnedhisMaster’sDegree atMorehead
State University where he focusedonaquaticbiology,limnology andinvasive species. He beganhis
professionalcareerasa contractor to ORSANCOin2004. From2004-2006 he ledfieldcrewsthroughout
the central U.S., performingbiological assessmentson large riversinWI,MN, IL, IN and OH. In 2007 Rob
became an AquaticBiologistatORSANCO,andsince thattime he hasledcrewsthroughoutthe Ohio
Rivermainstemcollectingfish,aquaticmacroinvertebrates,sedimentsamplesandwaterqualitydata
usedinassessmentstosafeguardthe resource.Now aSeniorAquaticBiologist,Robcoordinates
ORSANCO’sFishTissue ContaminantProgram, operatesasa seniorcrew chief,coordinatesORSANCO’s
internshipprogram,andiscertifiedinelectrofishingsystemarchitecture andemployment.
Rob’scurrent researchprojectsfocus onfishcontaminanttrendsanalyses,andhe haspresentedhis
findingsatmeetingsandforumsacrossthe country. Additionally,Robworkscloselywithagencies
withinthe statesof PA,OH,WV, KY IN and IL to developconsistencywithmonitoringprotocols.
