All major construction projects will involve a site invesigation, or multiple investigations.
These are used to identify potential hazards within the ground, assess the in-situ soils
for re-use suitability and for waste classification purposes. However, the issue has
always remained the same; they are too broad to give an in depth picture of the ground
conditions or to accuratley diliniate hotspots. Often contractors are removing vast
volumes of waste from these hotspots to err on the side of caution, increasing both
waste and cost, often needlessly. The site is then re-tested and results can take days
if not weeks to arrive. If this sounds familir then SoilEx Environmental can help.
Using rapid measure technology, soils can be assessed in a matter of seconds, at a
fraction of the cost of an off site laboratory analysis. This allows for hazardous hotspots
to be segregated to the nearest tonne and can identify where soils are suitable to
remain on site for re-use rather than being removed.
With the cost of a hazardous load of soils being anywhere between 3 to 10 times more
than a non-hazardous one, implementing this waste management process could save
thousands of pounds on any contaminated site.
