HAND
SKETCHES
WALL DETAILS
Before drawing anything
in Revit, wall details were
hand sketched. The
different details helped us
see how the wall and the
foundations interact.
INTERIOR BEARING
HOLLOW CORE PLANKS
With our hotel project,
we used hollow core
planks and this detail
helped us understand
how the floor is
connected to a bearing
wall.
BEAM CONNECTIONS
Here are examples of a
few of the hand sketches
done to learn about
different beam
connections.
Doing different hand
sketches helped us learn
many of the different
beam connections that
can be done in a project.
SKETCHUP
KITCHEN DESIGN
Given the SketchUp file
for the house, the
assignment entailed us to
design the kitchen any
way we would like.
Creating all furniture from
scratch and grabbing the
stove, sink, fridge, and
microwave from 3D
warehouse, the kitchen
was complete.
After designing the
kitchen, I went into
AutoCAD and drew up the
floor plans for the kitchen
and labeled the furniture.
DECORATIVE WALL
PANEL
Here is an example of the
wall panel that I created
in SketchUp for my hotel
lobby.
It is 54”x54” and it is 1”
thick. After creating the
extrusion, lines were
created everywhere. I then
offset the lines by ½” and
then deleted the inside.
After it was complete I
created a component of it.
SHED
This shed was created
piece by piece in
SketchUp. We started out
creating the boards for
the frame and making
them become
components. Then we
created the frame. While
created all the parts to
build the shed, color was
also added. Once
completed, we added
trim to the shed.
TWO STORY HOUSE
This house was created in
SketchUp by scratch.
Following the instructors
direction, we created a
lovely two story house.
We started by creating
the foundation and
footings. Then we started
to create all of the walls
on the first level.
We then moved on to the
second floor. After
creating all of the walls,
we then created the roof.
Windows and doors were
added then it was time to
start adding materials.
AUTOCAD
LIBRARY PROJECT
When doing the library
project, making the stairs
was one of the
assignments that we
learned. We first
calculated how many
treads and how many
risers were needed. Then
we started to create the
stairs in AutoCAD.
WALL DETAIL
In my Intro to AutoCAD
class, we learned how to
do wall details and how to
use line thickness.
PLUMBING AND
ELECTRICAL
In this assignment we first
calculated the pipe sizes
for the restrooms. After
calculating the sizes, we
then went into AutoCAD
and created this diagram.
BATHROOM ELEVATIONS
After creating a floor plan
for the bathroom in our
library project, I created
elevations for all views.
To help get the placement
right, lines were drawn
from the floor plans out.
NURSES ROOM AT WITC
OBJECTIVE: Dimension
and view a room or area
on the WITC campus and
see if it is accessible. If
not then design it to be
accessible.
This is the AutoCAD file of
the room that was
dimensioned. When using
a wheelchair, the room
was not accessible. We
were barely able to make
it through both doors and
were not able to go in the
bathroom.
ELEVATION
One of the assignments
that we did was to
recreate a set of floor
plans and elevations.
Given the PDF, we
created the floor plans
and projected lines in
AutoCAD to help create
the elevations.

FARM KITCHEN TABLE
Objective: 1) Make an
object using extrusions,
Blends, Revolves, sweeps,
voids, or swept blends. 2)
Add two material
parameters. 3) Make sure
object flexes when it is
changed to a different
size.
FINISHED PRODUCT
Table Top: Extrusion
Table Skirt: Extrusion
Table Skirt Design: Void,
Symbolic lines so design is
seen in a project
Table Legs: Revolve,
edited revolve for a
better design
Plinth: Extrusion,
between plinth and leg is
a blend to connect the
revolve and the square
plinth
[Type the sidebar content.
A sidebar is a standalone
supplement to the main
document. It is often
aligned on the left or right
of the page, or located at
the top or bottom. Use
the Drawing Tools tab to

FINISHED WINDOW
Trim: Sweep, profile
created through editing
profile
Mullions: created a
mullion profile and then
used the sweep tool
Window Frame: Two
rectangles in an extrusion
profile to create the void
Glass: Extrusion with an
extrusion end of ½” and
an extrusion start of -½”.
RESIDENTIAL DOOR
FAMILY
Objective: 1) Create a
door using extrusions,
voids, blends, revolves,
sweeps, and swept
blends. 2) Add two
material parameters. 3)
Make sure object flexes
when it is changed to a
different size.
FINISHED DOOR
Door: Being in the
exterior elevation, I
created an extrusion and
then created voids for
room for the panels.
Panels: With the voids
already created, I created
an extrusion and offset
the beginning and end so
it is recessed more into
the door.
Trim: Sweep, profile
created through editing
profile
Materials: door is steel
with a paint finish and the
trim is wood.
REVIT
WALL TYPES
Before drawing any walls
in Revit for our hotel
project, we needed to
know what walls were
going to be used and
make the many different
wall types.
Using a wall closest to the
new wall that needed to
be created, it was then
duplicated and renamed
for the new wall type.
Editing the wall materials
were either added or
deleted.
SCHEDULES
Once the floor plans were
finalized and the rooms
were named and
numbered, a room
schedule was created for
the levels along with a
legend for the
abbreviations.

  • 6. WALL DETAILS Before drawing anything in Revit, wall details were hand sketched. The different details helped us see how the wall and the foundations interact. INTERIOR BEARING HOLLOW CORE PLANKS With our hotel project, we used hollow core planks and this detail helped us understand how the floor is connected to a bearing wall.
  • 7. BEAM CONNECTIONS Here are examples of a few of the hand sketches done to learn about different beam connections. Doing different hand sketches helped us learn many of the different beam connections that can be done in a project.
  • 9. KITCHEN DESIGN Given the SketchUp file for the house, the assignment entailed us to design the kitchen any way we would like. Creating all furniture from scratch and grabbing the stove, sink, fridge, and microwave from 3D warehouse, the kitchen was complete. After designing the kitchen, I went into AutoCAD and drew up the floor plans for the kitchen and labeled the furniture.
  • 10. DECORATIVE WALL PANEL Here is an example of the wall panel that I created in SketchUp for my hotel lobby. It is 54”x54” and it is 1” thick. After creating the extrusion, lines were created everywhere. I then offset the lines by ½” and then deleted the inside. After it was complete I created a component of it. SHED This shed was created piece by piece in SketchUp. We started out creating the boards for the frame and making them become components. Then we created the frame. While created all the parts to build the shed, color was also added. Once completed, we added trim to the shed.
  • 11. TWO STORY HOUSE This house was created in SketchUp by scratch. Following the instructors direction, we created a lovely two story house. We started by creating the foundation and footings. Then we started to create all of the walls on the first level. We then moved on to the second floor. After creating all of the walls, we then created the roof. Windows and doors were added then it was time to start adding materials.
  • 13. LIBRARY PROJECT When doing the library project, making the stairs was one of the assignments that we learned. We first calculated how many treads and how many risers were needed. Then we started to create the stairs in AutoCAD. WALL DETAIL In my Intro to AutoCAD class, we learned how to do wall details and how to use line thickness.
  • 14. PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL In this assignment we first calculated the pipe sizes for the restrooms. After calculating the sizes, we then went into AutoCAD and created this diagram. BATHROOM ELEVATIONS After creating a floor plan for the bathroom in our library project, I created elevations for all views. To help get the placement right, lines were drawn from the floor plans out.
  • 15. NURSES ROOM AT WITC OBJECTIVE: Dimension and view a room or area on the WITC campus and see if it is accessible. If not then design it to be accessible. This is the AutoCAD file of the room that was dimensioned. When using a wheelchair, the room was not accessible. We were barely able to make it through both doors and were not able to go in the bathroom. ELEVATION One of the assignments that we did was to recreate a set of floor plans and elevations. Given the PDF, we created the floor plans and projected lines in AutoCAD to help create the elevations.

  • 29. DOUBLE HUNG WINDOW Objective: 1) Create a window using extrusions, voids, blends, revolves, sweeps, and swept blends. 2) Add two material parameters. 3) Make sure object flexes when it is changed to a different size. FINISHED WINDOW Trim: Sweep, profile created through editing profile Mullions: created a mullion profile and then used the sweep tool Window Frame: Two rectangles in an extrusion profile to create the void Glass: Extrusion with an extrusion end of ½” and an extrusion start of -½”.
  • 30. RESIDENTIAL DOOR FAMILY Objective: 1) Create a door using extrusions, voids, blends, revolves, sweeps, and swept blends. 2) Add two material parameters. 3) Make sure object flexes when it is changed to a different size. FINISHED DOOR Door: Being in the exterior elevation, I created an extrusion and then created voids for room for the panels. Panels: With the voids already created, I created an extrusion and offset the beginning and end so it is recessed more into the door. Trim: Sweep, profile created through editing profile Materials: door is steel with a paint finish and the trim is wood.
  • 31. REVIT
  • 32. WALL TYPES Before drawing any walls in Revit for our hotel project, we needed to know what walls were going to be used and make the many different wall types. Using a wall closest to the new wall that needed to be created, it was then duplicated and renamed for the new wall type. Editing the wall materials were either added or deleted. SCHEDULES Once the floor plans were finalized and the rooms were named and numbered, a room schedule was created for the levels along with a legend for the abbreviations.
