This document outlines the qualification system for karate at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018. Athletes will qualify based on their results in the 2017 WKF Youth Cup, 2017 WKF World Championships, and the last edition of respective WKF Continental Championships between April 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018. The top two athletes per gender and weight category in the WKF World Ranking as of June 1, 2018 will qualify, respecting a maximum of two quotas per NOC. A combined ranking will determine qualification for categories that are merged for the Youth Olympics.

QUALIFICATION SYSTEM  D.1. WKF World Ranking as of 1st of June 2018
- The top two (2) athletes per gender and weight category from the WKF World Ranking as of 1 June 2018 will be allocated one (1) quota
place respecting the maximum quota per gender and weight category per NOC.
- For those rankings where two WKF weight categories are merged for the purpose of the Youth Olympic Games the top ranked athlete of
each individual WKF weight category will obtain one (1) quota place, respecting the maximum quota per gender and weight category per
NOC.
- For those rankings where two WKF are merged, a combined ranking will be published respecting the maximum quota per gender and weight
category per NOC.
