The Pythagorean theorem is a mathematical relationship about right triangles that has been known for over 4,000 years and was attributed to the Greek philosopher Pythagoras. It states that for any right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. Two examples are then provided to illustrate the theorem.
