statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and visit the mortuary
temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most
successful pharaohs and it’s first female ruler. Continue on
to the Valley of the Kings used for burials for nearly 500
years.
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo where you
will be greeted by a representative
from the Mercure Cairo Le Sphinx
Hotel and escorted via hotel coach
to the hotel. You will be given time
to relax and enjoy a meal at one of
the hotel’s beautiful restaurants.
Day 2: Private Alexandria Day Tour from Cairo
Take a fascinating tour to Alexandria from Cairo in the
company of your own Egyptologist guide.
Your first stop in this historic city is the catacombs of Kom
ash-Shuqqafa, a Roman burial site whose family tomb
reveals the merging of Egyptian and Roman art and
architecture. Descend below ground to visit the tomb of
Caracalla Hall.
Continue onto Pompey’s Pillar, a granite column built to
honour Emperor Diocletian then onto the Roman
amphitheatre, possibly the best preserved Roman site in
Egypt.
After lunch you will visit the Norwegian designed
Alexandria Library. A copy of every book published in the
world is kept in the library, making it one of the great
literary sites in the world. The library also houses several
exhibitions relating to the history of Egypt and a display of
rare antique books.
Day 3: Fly to Lexor (board River Tosca)
Featured Excursion: Temple of Karnak
Fly to Lexor where you will visit the world’s largest ancient
temple complex—the Temple of Karnak. The scale of this
site is simply astonishing, with massive temples and
statues and endless avenues of giant columns. Board the
elegant River Tosca and cruise to Dendara. This evening
there will be a Gala Reception and dinner aboard.
Day 4: Dendara, cruising the Nile River, Luxor
Featured Excursion: Temple of Hathor & Temple of Luxor
The Temple of Hathor is an extraordinarily well preserved
site that was once the epicentre of the cult of Hathor,
goddess of love, music and other earthly delights. Return
to Luxor for some leisure time before visiting the ancient
UNESCO designated Temple of Luxor, an especially
stunning sight at sunset

Day 12: Temples of Abu Simbel

by past invaders, the interiors of
Abu Simbel's temples are
astounding. The scale of the
buildings and their detailed
decoration leaves most visitors in
awe. The temples' attraction is further enhanced by their
scenic location on the edge of Lake Nasser in the orange
sands of the desert.
Day 13: Islamic sites 4 hour Walking Tour of Cairo
Discover Cairo’s fascinating Islamic heritage on this 4 hour
walk. Climb the Citadel of Saladin, home of Egypt’s rulers for
more than 700 years and visit the Sultan Hassan Mosque.
Then enjoy the local experience of the winding passageways
of the Khan el Khalili bazaars. Afternoon at your leisure.
Day 14: At your Leisure
Spend your last day in Egypt at your leisure by the hotel pool

Day 6: Kom Ombo, cruising the Nile, Aswan
Featured Excursions: Kom Ombo Temple, bird watching boat
ride and Nubian Village visit
Kom Ombo is the site of a Greco Roman temple dedicated to
the crocodile god, Sobek, and the god, Horus the Elder.
Several mummified crocodiles can be seen inside this
unusual double temple. After a scenic cruise to Aswan, take a
small boat along the banks of the Nile, watching for colourful
native birds as you travel to a small Nubian village.
Day 7: Aswan
Featured Excursion: Aswan High Dam, Unfinished Obellsk,
Philae Temple, felucca ride, afternoon tea at the historical Old
Cataract Hotel Aswan and on board Nubian show.
Visit the Aswan High Dam as well as the towering Unfinished
Obelisk, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut but never
completed. Explore the Philae Temple complex, moved from
it’s original site and rebuilt on Agilika Island during the
construction of the dam. Later, take a peaceful and scenic
ride along the Nile in a felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailboat
with cushions and a canopy for shade. Relax over
refreshments at the Old Cataract Hotel Aswan.
Day 8: Aswan, cruising the Nile River, Kom Ombo
Spend the day at your leisure or take an optional excursion
to see the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel, carved into
the sandstone cliffs along the Nile about 200 hundred miles
from Aswan.
Day 9: Edfu, cruising the Nile River, Luxor
Featured Excursion: Temple of Horus
The city of Edfu is best known for it’s remarkably preserved
temple dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. Built in
230BC with walls that display compelling details about the
religion and language of the country’s Greco-Roman period.
Afterwards, relax on-board and take in the Nile’s timeless
landscapes as the ship continues onward to Luxor.
Day 10: Luxor (disembark), fly to Cairo, transfer to Cairo hotel
Featured Excursion: Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids of
Giza
Check into the Fairmont Towers Hotel and enjoy some free
time before tonight’s Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids
of Giza—a wonderfully colourful introduction to these
