The Lord is described as a shepherd who cares for his flock. He provides rest in green pastures and refreshment by still waters, restoring the soul of his followers. Even in the darkest of times, the shepherd's rod and staff bring comfort, and a feast is prepared in the presence of enemies. God's goodness and unending love follow his people forever in his house.

2. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not be in want. (Psalm 23:1)
