The House of Hohenzollern was a German royal dynasty that originated in the 11th century. It ruled the Prussian Kingdom and later the German Empire from 1701 to 1918. The last German emperor, Wilhelm II, was forced to abdicate the throne at the end of World War I, bringing an end to Hohenzollern rule in Germany.
