2.  We decided to use a real Kitchen Knife
instead of a replica or toy knife due to the
fact that the conventions of British Drama
emphasises realism, therefore having a real
knife has realistic affects on the film such as
the way the blade reacts to the lighting. A
Kitchen Knife was chose instead of an
alternative Knife because it is easily
obtainable within the story line as most
households will have accessible Knives.

3.  Instead of doing a scene where Shaun is at
the gym we instead had Tom (the actor) do
the scenes in a park because we felt that it
would be similar the Rocky films in how the
main character will make do with whatever
he has despite the difficulty. Therefore we
had Tom do body weight exercises and use
simple dumbbells to exercise as we felt that
it would fit with the theme of the film better
of overcoming a struggle.

4.  We have a photograph of a parent who has
given us permission to use it in our trailer.
We use the photograph to represent Shaun’s
deceased Mum and is used in a couple of
scenes, one at the house and one at the
grave.

5.  We used flour to represent cocaine as it has
a similar look to cocaine, therefore it is the
most realistic substitute for it. It was used in
a shot in the house as well as being in a small
bag when Shaun is dealing to someone at
School.

6.  We have a rose which used in the scene at
the graveyard because it is representative of
love and so demonstrates Shaun’s feelings
and respect for his mum at her grave.

7.  We also used Money and Beer breathy whilst
filming as the Dad is an alcoholic so is
constantly having a drink and we used money
in the scene at School where Shaun is
dealing.

8.  Sugar glass is used in a scene where Shaun
glasses an enforcer sent by the dealer to try
and intimidate him and his dad. We used
sugar glass because it makes the same noise
as a glass bottle shattering but also because
of how realistic it is to the real glass bottle
without causing injury.
