Project Scope Statement
Objective
The project is a farmers market in the spring at the MU Quad for students. Students and people in
the Corvallis community will be able to sell their products or services. This event is put on in hopes to
restore the sense of community in Corvallis that was lost from COVID-19. There will be costs with
renting a space for selling and there will be a cheaper fee for student-owned booths with proof of student
identification card. This project will take 6 weeks starting April 1st and ending June 9th, and will cost
approximately $300 to complete.
Project scope description
The event we are planning is a farmers market that will be held in the spring intended to bring
together the Corvallis community. OSU students, as well as Corvallis residents, have the opportunity to
sell products and services at the MU Quad. The project overall will take place over a 6 week period of
time.
In our project, our team will set up a marketing plan for the event, getting the attention of the
Corvallis community about our event. This will include posting on social media, including a link to the
registration page where vendors can register a booth. The fee to register for a spot at the market will be
around $15. Flyers will also be made to post around the community and we will hand out flyers to local
businesses to post in their store. Vendors will bring their own tables and equipment since each of them
will be needing different things. This way it will be easier for vendors to personalize their own space.
Next, once we reach at least 20 vendors we will go through OSU and reserve the MU Quad for
May 15th through their website. The cost to reserve a location on the OSU campus is about $40. Once
MU is secured we will send a confirmation email to each registered vendor. The e-mail provides basic
information including the date and time of the event as well as when they should come to set up their
booth and when they need to leave. On the day of the event, vendors will arrive at their designated
location. The event will run from 11 am-4 pm. Vendors will stay for the duration of the market and clean
their area after closing.
Justification
This project is important to us because it is a way to include and engage the community and
support small businesses. This project could help business students since the first year they have to create
a micro-business for the class BA 160, and then sell it to the public. It would be a great idea to provide
them with a place to do it and at the same time give a little more advertising to sell their products. In
terms of engagement, it is important since Corvallis is a small city made of a very diverse community.
This project could engage the community by bringing everyone together to learn new cultures or see new
products that they may not have seen before. Additionally, this helps support small businesses since in
this project we plan to partner with local businesses who want to participate. Finally, this project is being
created by OSU students to help both the OSU and Corvallis community. As this event will be held on
campus, there are some requirements that must be followed. In terms of meeting the OSU requirements,
we must establish an inspection process. This process consists of filling out a form or survey with
information about the businesses and what products they will be selling to ensure that all vendors meet the
requirements regarding selling products on the OSU campus.

Limits and exclusions
The farmers market will be open from 11 am - 4 pm during Spring term.
Vendors will need to pay a $15 booth fee to be able to sell at the farmer's market.
Vendors will be required to bring their own table.
Students will get a discounted booth fee.
Free admission for attendees.
We can expect to pay for the space in the MU and for some advertisements $50-$100.
Set up will happen an hour before the market and the day before.
Inspection of the MU Quad will happen at least an hour before the event.
We must have 20 vendors or $50 before reservation of MU Quad.
No Cannabis and alcoholic products allowed to be sold.
Acceptance criteria
We must have at least 20 vendors or $50 before we reserve the MU Quad with OSU.
Customers must disclose what they are selling at the market and must be approved before receiving a
spot.
Oregon State University must approve of our Farmers Market.
The MU Quad must be inspected or cleaned an hour beforehand to ensure that the area is clear.
The markers and outlines for each booth spot should be set up the day prior.
A team will create and manage the application that vendors will apply on.
Vendors must also agree to our terms and conditions before participating in the farmers market
Customer review
The customers of this farmers market will be students at Oregon State University and Corvallis residents.
Vendors will also be considered our customers because they will pay to be a part of the event, which will
attract them to make sales and create more publicity for their businesses.
Success Indicators
There are at least 20 vendors who come to the farmers market and sell their products or services.
$0 in fees received from clean up post event from Oregon State.
At least 300 people from the community attend the event, this can be estimated by a QR code given to
customers to access a map of the event.
Each vendor makes a positive profit, which they will report in a survey post farmers market.
Project Sponsor
Our team's project sponsor is Vonda Peters who is an event coordinator for the Corvallis-Albany Farmers
Markets. She will give us advice since she has run farmers markets and has experience in the field. She
will be able to help us make sure this event is cohesive with other farmers markets in Corvallis and nearby
areas. With Vonda’s experience, she will be able to help us manage the event to make sure everything is
running smoothly
Our team would like for Benny’s Doughnuts to be our corporate sponsor for this event. Benny’s
Doughnuts stems from Oregon State University students coming together for a business project, but
taking it one step further by creating a real, successful business in Corvallis. We think they would make a
good sponsor because their business represents the reasoning why we are putting on the event. We are
hosting students that can share their products and services with the Corvallis community. Benny's
Doughnuts is a perfect example of showcasing what Oregon State University has to offer.
Priority Matrix
Time Performance Cost
Constraint X
Enhance X
Accept X
This project follows a timeline with a specific end date, which means we will need to prepare for
everything before the event itself. The date is the most important aspect of the event because this is the
first deliverable we will be deciding on, which means making businesses that will be involved with the
event work around our schedule, rather than us attempting to find a date that works for everyone. Another
important reason why time is constrained is that the cost doesn't seem to be an issue as our biggest
expense will be renting the MU quad for approximately $40. The performance has been accepted because
based on how we spend our time and money preparing, that will determine the outcome for the event.
Project Feasibility
This project should take 6 weeks to complete, beginning April 1st- June 9th. The outcomes we have are
easily achievable with enough participation from the community and students at OSU. Our budget is
extremely low as we only have to worry about the reservation fee, which is relatively cheap– $40. All
other materials also won’t have a large cost and will come out of our $300 budget. We are requiring 20
vendors to participate in order to reserve the location for the event, and attendees are necessary for this
event, which will be realistic as it is located on the OSU campus. We will not be supplying vendors with
tents and tables, they will need to set up their own booth with their own supplies, which will ultimately be
cheaper for us in the end.

Risk value threshold: 30
The threshold is 30 because risk events that occur at higher values than this have the ability to set the
project back more than others. Technical issues with the vendor application can set us back on retaining
vendors for the farmer's market. This will cause us to create more time to gain vendors before going
forward with the project. If there are not enough vendors, we will not have the funds to continue the rest
of the project. Our highest risk values damage the project financially and timely.

PROJECT PLAN
The project will take approximately 50 days. The project will commence 4/1/22 and be completed 6/9/22.
There is only one critical path in our network. The critical path consists of these activities, Decide on a
date, research venue options, create financial plans for fees, research online applications, make online
application, establish at least 20 vendors, reserve chosen venue for date, make OSU social media post,
create 50 small posters, hang posters around campus, get check in table, have welcome signs and other
signage ready, inspection of venue for cleanliness, set up necessary tables, set up signage, put away extra
tables and signare, gather any trash, vendors leave within 1 hour after, and finally ensure venue is clean.
Our network is insensitive; we only have one critical path and there is very little slack.

Technical issues with the vendor application can set us back on retaining vendors for the farmer's market. This will cause us to create more time to gain vendors before going forward with the project. If there are not enough vendors, we will not have the funds to continue the rest of the project. Our highest risk values damage the project financially and timely.

Risk Response Matrix RiskEvent Response Contingency Plan Trigger Who Is Responsible Not enough vendors Mitigating: More allotted time for the application process Allow for more time to advertise to possible vendors and leave the application open longer. (This can potentially delay our project timeline.) The desired amount of vendors haven’t applied by the original deadline Hope Technical issues with online application Mitigate: Test application process Go through application process ourselves before posting it to make sure the application has no technical issues. Stay alert of emails/ notifications of it not working When the technical issues are happening Randy No approval from OSU for use of the MU Quad for event Avoiding Risk: Have other venue options ready to apply for. (This will delay the start of the project as we must have a venue in order to start.) After the venue gets denied we will immediately apply to our other venues of choice which are: SEC Plaza, Valley Library Courtyard, and Student Legacy Park. We get the unapproved email from Oregon State University. Reilly A vendor cancels last minute Mitigate: Since vendors are paying to be part of the event, they will be less likely to cancel due to there being a no refund policy. We have to accept this as we can not force the vendors to come if they need to cancel for any reason. An official vendor cancels the week of the event not leaving enough time to possibly replace their spot. Cameron

PROJECT PLAN The projectwill take approximately 50 days. The project will commence 4/1/22 and be completed 6/9/22. There is only one critical path in our network. The critical path consists of these activities, Decide on a date, research venue options, create financial plans for fees, research online applications, make online application, establish at least 20 vendors, reserve chosen venue for date, make OSU social media post, create 50 small posters, hang posters around campus, get check in table, have welcome signs and other signage ready, inspection of venue for cleanliness, set up necessary tables, set up signage, put away extra tables and signare, gather any trash, vendors leave within 1 hour after, and finally ensure venue is clean. Our network is insensitive; we only have one critical path and there is very little slack. Network Diagram Schedule
