weakness.
Cambridge Satchel Company is one of the most leading and top companies of the current time.
This successful company was established by Julie Deane and her mother. They established it in
2008 in Cambridge, London. The starting capital of Cambridge Satchel Company was only 600
British pounds. The primary cost of the company in leaflets purpose was 70 pound. Julie was
determined about the success of her business and also decided to start a job if she fails. But the
sales of Cambridge Satchel Company were damn good, and they made 30000-pound selling
bags. The selling condition changed the company’s condition. Cambridge Satchel Company
faced the profit in that year, and the capital was approximately 200000 pound in that year.

3 | P a g e

LO 02: Propose changes to improve management and business performance.
Task 2.1: Recommendation with justification, appropriate actions to overcome the
identified weakness in Cambridge Satchel Company
The identification of weakness is a great issue to overcome it rapidly. Most of the business may
have a weakness, and it’s natural for the business. The weakness of the business needs to identify
fast to remove it. The weakness may do hamper in the long run of the business. Cambridge
Satchel Company also has some weakness. These weakness need to analyse to take necessary
measures.
Actions to overcome the identified weakness in Cambridge Satchel Company:
As the main weakness of Cambridge Satchel Company is adding new producers. The decision
may modify by taking other steps to managing capital and broaden the production scope. Besides
these, the market research is not satisfactory for Cambridge Satchel Company. As a first class
small enterprise business, Cambridge Satchel Company should have strong market policies and
research. But the low market research is hampering the Cambridge Satchel Company’s sales.
The products of Cambridge Satchel Company may face difficulties to attract the customers
without good research on customer choice (Davis, 2011).The online sales of Cambridge Satchel
Company damn high. Frauds had realised the popularity and made a fake website to gain money
from customers providing fake products. Recently 330 fake websites are found which used
Cambridge Satchel Company name to sell products in online. Cambridge Satchel Company
needed to use strong website and registered a site to protect business as well as reputation from
these fake parties.

strengthened.

maintain and develop. Maintaining and strengthen the existing performance following ways may
be implemented:
Maintain customer satisfaction: Customer satisfaction is first to sustain the market position and
popularity. The customer is the main facts to grow the strengths. So the customer’s relation and
satisfaction should be gained by Cambridge Satchel Company.
Comparing the products with others: The competitors develop their products and provide a
lower price for eliminating Cambridge Satchel Company from the market. So the products
comparison may continue to avoid the risky situation (Bridges, 2010).
Concentrate on updating the design: The needs of the customers may change time to time. The
latest need and design should be provided by Cambridge Satchel Company as it has leather
items.
Pricing strategy: The price is damn good in Cambridge Satchel Company. But the products may
have lower pricing strategy or improve it by developing products. These facts may develop in the
pricing strategy.
So Cambridge Satchel Company can survive in the top position to sustain in the current policy.
Task 2.3: Recommendation with justification, new areas in which the business could be
expanded.
Cambridge Satchel Company is a top small company doing business in the UK. The business of
the company may be developed. Cambridge Satchel Company has a limited market in the
British. It has huge competition in the current market. But the market policy and products quality
and pricing are the main issues to sustain as top in the market.
Expanding business area: The main area that may expand in the business of Cambridge Satchel
Company may broaden the business area. Cambridge Satchel Company has a limited market area
in British. It can expand the market in Asia, America, and Australia. The business area of
Cambridge Satchel Company was confined in British. The sales of the business can be boomed
by the market expand. The huge customers of that region may welcome the products of
6 | P a g e
Cambridge Satchel Company. But it is a challenged, and tough task to enter the new market and
have good position and customers (cook, 2016).
Introducing new designs: The main concentration of Cambridge Satchel Company is on the
quality of the products. The designs of the products may need to develop time to time to gain the
new generation. As the main customers of the bag is the young generation. So the design of the
products may be improved by Cambridge Satchel Company time to time.

Task 3.1: An assessment of the existing business objectives and plans
Cambridge Satchel Company is a British based leather products manufacturer. The main
products of the company are bags. The main objectives of the company were providing quality of
products in reasonable price. The existing business plan and objectives of Cambridge Satchel
Company are describing below:
Gaining customers by providing quality of products: From the beginning of the business, the
company was concentrating on the product’s quality. The products quality is the strong strengths
of a product. So the main objective and plan are providing concentration on the product’s
quality. The main customers of Cambridge Satchel Company are women. So, most of the
customers are more concerned with the style. The quality and style will combine the products as
top brand products.
Revising the product’s design: The customers of bags are mainly women. Women want latest
design and style in the bags. The sales may expand by the latest design and model of the bags.
So, one of the main objectives of Cambridge Satchel Company is to introduce latest design and
fashion (Toivanen, 2014).

Task 3.2: Revising the business plan to incorporate changes.
The business plan needs to improve and check time to time. A business plan may be changed by
the changing demand and issues of the business and customers. The demand and taste of the
customer change the phrase of time. The process of revising the business plan of Cambridge
Satchel Company is describing below:
Figure 01: Revising the business plan (Source- own)
The plans and business strategy are developed to meet the challenge of the future markets and
the customers. So the plans may change time to time when it may need. To revise the plan some
steps may follow. The choice of the customers of Cambridge Satchel Company may get the latest
design of the current world. The company may have latest design collection, but it may need to
develop for the customers to supply the desired one. Besides these, the company always focuses
on the price. The changing demand may force the company to produce products of the higher
range. The total improvement process should be review time to time and implement the
developed plan to the business. Another revising part of the Cambridge Satchel Company plan is
to develop the promoting strategy (Sharifi, 2009). A celebrity Angelina Jolie was promoted the
brand of Cambridge Satchel Company. But the promotion has a limited boundary. It may fail to
reach the common people. So the promotion strategy may be changed and revised to improve the
business plan of Cambridge Satchel Company.

Task 3.3: An action to implement the changes
The taken actions or the improvement may not welcome by the related parties of Cambridge
Satchel Company. It may face difficulties to adjust the changes in the decision. Business
planning needs to change, and it needs to implement when it changed. The action may have
process to implement the change successfully in the business plan:
Strong customer relationship: Sometimes customer doesn’t take the change in the products and
services easily though it was desired products. But the strong relationship with the customers
may ease the implementation of the change. The strong relationship makes easy to take easily the
changes taken by the business (Lyon, 2016).
Motivate the suppliers: Suppliers often take the changes negatively. Suppliers may think of the
recent changing effect on the sales. So they may argue on the change of the business plan. So
motivate the suppliers will enable the changes easy to implement.
Develop the system: The payment system, the purchasing system and the other systems may be
developed to make easy to use the service. Developing the system in an easy way will enable the
customers encouraging having the products.
So the changing business plan can be easily implemented by Cambridge Satchel Company taking
the above steps. The change will be implementing. So the better implementation plan should be
developed to make it simple.
LO 04: Examining the impacts of change management on the operations of the business.
Task 4.1: The impacts of the proposed changes on the business and its personnel
The changes that may propose by the Cambridge Satchel Company may have some impacts.
These impacts may have positive and negative issues. These are:
Impacts on sales: The main impacts of the change are in the sales. The changing business in
Cambridge Satchel Company is improving the design. The changed design may attract the most
customers of Cambridge Satchel Company. But the traditional customers may take it negatively.
Even some customers have no impacts on the changes. As a result, the sales of the company may
rise or fall. But the possibility of raising the sales is most.
9 | P a g e
Impacts on the customers: Another impact of the change is gaining or losing the customers.
The new improved design may help to gain new customers having a new concept of design and
model. But the traditional customers may not take it easily. They may find the traditional ones.
So the traditional customers may lose by the changing business of Cambridge Satchel Company
(Micro-Enterprises and U. F., 2016).
The changing plan in business may impact both positively and negatively. But the customer
representative should be more serious and care for the customers especially when they need to
understand to choose the design of the latest change.
Task 4.2: Planning of how the changes will be managed in the business.
Managing the changed is very much important for the business plan. The changes are taken for
the betterment of the plan. But when the changes are not managed, it affects the business
directly. Some planning of how the changes are managed are briefly describing below:
Provide training to the employees: The employees may not have the proper knowledge of the
changes that are taken by Cambridge Satchel Company. So the employees may provide training
to gain the necessary knowledge of the changes. Getting proper knowledge they will enable to
provide better service to customers (Hodgkinson, 2011).
Customer service: Customers may fell hesitate to the changes of the products. The management
may take steps to provide customer service to the customers. That will make ease the customers
to have the products.
Better customer representative: Customers need the changing information of the products. If
the customer representative able to understand the change to the customers, it will be helped the
customer to choice the products. So, better customer representative is needed for the managing
the changes.
To cope with the competitive market, Cambridge Satchel Company needs to change the policy,
but the changes should be managed in a proper way. As Cambridge Satchel Company produced
homemade bags, but the changing demand has enforced to produced commercially. So the
changing products need to supply to the customers understanding the changes in the proper way.
10 | P a g e
Task 4.3: Monitoring improvements in the performance of the business over period
Monitoring the improvements is needed for improving the performance of the business.
Improvements mean gaining the customers as well as the satisfaction. The improvements of
Cambridge Satchel Company over time will be discussed in part.
Cambridge Satchel Company was very small in capital. It started with only 600 pound which is
not much amount of business. The tiny amount now has turn into 1 million pounds
approximately. The sales of the first year were 30000, but now it has turned into a huge amount.
The reputation of the company is damn high now. The reputation of the products is so high that
330 fake websites are using the organisation images and name to make money. The frauds are
making money by providing low products by selling online. The brand research on the products
that are sold by Cambridge Satchel Company is the top rated using by most of the people of
British. Researching or surveying we will find the most frequently used brand of the Cambridge
Satchel Company. The most quality products with the best price have attracted all the users.
Cambridge Satchel Company is supplying the most used products that are fond by the customers
(Sidhu, 2016).
Figure 02: Revenue of Cambridge Satchel Company (Over period)
So, the improvements of the performance need not analyse much for Cambridge Satchel
Company. It can improve the strategy and the plan to provide better products and enhance brand
name throughout the market.

Cambridge Satchel Company is the leather producing company which was established in 2008
but has developed throughout difficulties and improving the strategies and plans. The business
faced different difficulties throughout the period. But the strategic decisions and better plans
were helping to develop the business of Cambridge Satchel Company. The company always
provides priority to the quality and services to the customers. The main comparative advantage
of the company was that which has enabled it to expand rapidly. The strengths and weakness
issues should be analyzed for the further development of the business. The development issues
and strategic issues should be developed by Cambridge Satchel Company and successfully
implemented for ensuring the business success.
