A new youth music project called Soundbox Sessions has launched at the Sweatbox Youth Centre in Wantage, offering free workshops and rehearsals for young musicians on Tuesday evenings led by recording artist Eloise Rees. On Fridays, Soundbox Live will feature live performances from diverse bands and solo artists. The Sweatbox has a reputation for supporting young musicians and bands looking for their first gigs. The project aims to provide the same opportunities and vibrant local music scene that Sweatbox created for Eloise and others over a decade ago. The facility has an impressive stage and equipment like guitars, drums, PA system, lighting and video equipment available for musicians to use.

When asked the reasoning behind the new project, Eloise ‘Spam’ Rees the new project
leader was very passionate about what the project could offer and what Sweatbox had
done for young musicians in the past.
“I experienced what a massive impact Sweatbox music had on me and fellow musicians
a decade ago and what a vibrant and successful local music scene it helped create. I
like to resurrect these opportunities to enrich the lives of young Oxfordshire music
makers of today”
Asked what facilities Soundbox had to offer Eloise replied,
“We have an impressive stage set up and able to provide quality in house backline,
guitars, bass, drums, 4K PA system and a range of Hi-tech sound, lighting and video
making equipment ” “So if you want to perform, play, learn about recording, lighting or
sound please get in touch, we’d love to help you out.” Alternatively just turn up.
