The document discusses user testing that was conducted to improve the instructions for fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits. User testing revealed that the most common user errors with the FIT kits were failing to provide a collection date or properly label the sample. To address these issues, the instructions were redesigned based on cognitive load theory and principles of visual communication. The redesigned instructions were then user tested with 7 participants and showed improvements in ease of use and understanding. User testing is an effective way to identify usability issues and ensure communications are designed in a way that is easy for users to understand and follow.
