My best friend Mason Vega wrote this song for my dad when he heard of his passing. When Mason had nowhere to go, my dad let him stay with us-no questions asked. The one thing that everyone has to say about my dad is that he was the type of man that would give you the shirt off of his back. That is the best measure of how someone has lived their life-when no one has anything bad to say and can remember the person only doing good things. He always worried about everyone else. My dad was a kind soul and on his deathbed I told him he taught me to be good to people and that is one of the most important lessons that I’ve learned in life. I am sad that he is gone, but I am happy that his suffering is over. He told me that he was ready and when I asked him if he is going to miss everyone he said “no because I am going to be around”. I will never forget him saying this because my dad was never the spiritual type. I will miss seeing his smile and hearing his voice. I will miss him telling me to kill the cat or that whatever food he was eating was shit for the birds. He was one of the kindest, gentlest, and funniest people I have ever met and he will be missed. Rest in Peace, Daddy. If there is a heaven, I know you’re there.
