• The objective: the fabrication of
phytochemical based antimicrobial nanofiber
composites via electrospinning
• Polylactic acid (PLA) used for the nanofiber
fabrication.
• Tannic acid used as antimicrobial agent.
• The antimicrobial activity of the composites
assessed against Escherichia coli.

11. Conclusions
• Nanofiber composites manufactured successfully.
• PLA nanofibers had random fiber orientation.
• The nanofiber diameters increased with increasing
TA amount.
• Conductivity increased with increasing TA amount.
• According to antibacterial activity tests, all the
tested samples showed a reduction in E.coli counts
ranging between 1-3 log counts (%90 to %99.9).
• The amount of TA in the PLA increased, the
antibacterial activity was also increased. 11
