Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

Presentation demokrazija
1. Tema 2: Ngħixu f’Demokrazija
Form 1
1 Ms Camilleri (B.A. Soc & M.A. Soc)
2. Ir-Rispett lejn xulxin
Sabiex pajjiż jgħix fl-ordni, kull ċittadin għandu d-
drittijiet u d-dmirijiet.
Drittijiet eżempju: li jkolli edukazzjoni, x’niekol u
fejn noqgħod.
Dmirijiet eżempju: jagħmel użu tajjeb tal-art u ma
jħammiġx, iħallas it-taxxi u jieħu sehem f’kumitati
lokali.
2
3. Dmirijiet personali:
L-imġiba tagħna fit-triq
Rispett lejn il-liġi tat-traffiku
Rispett fuq ix-xogħol
Nagħtu kas tal-edukazzjoni
Nagħtu kas tal-pariri tal-ġenituri
3
4. Dmirijiet morali:
Nuru rispett
Nilbsu kif jixraq għall-okkażżjoni
Ngħinu lit-tfal, nies morda, b’diżabilita’ u
lix-xjuħ
Nieħdu sehem f’attivitajiet volontarji
4
5. Id-Demokrazija matul iż-żminijiet
L-iktar forma ta’ tmexxija popolari hi dik
demokratika.
Id-demokrazija tagħti l-ogħla valur lil-libertà
tal-individwu u tipprovdilu l-għażla politika
ħielsa.
5
6. Demokrazija ġejja minn żewġ kelmiet Griegi,
‘demos’, li tfisser il-poplu u ‘kratia’, li tfisser
setgħa jew tmexxija.
Demokrazija hi t-tmexxija tal-Istat mill-poplu.
Mingħajr ma tħares lejn età, sess, reliġjon jew
kulur tal-ġilda.
6
7. Il-mixja lejn id-demokrazija
Fl-antik f’Ateni (700 u t-350 Q.K.), il-Griegi
kellhom l-ewwel demokrazija.
L-irġiel kollha tal-belt kienu jiltaqgħu f’ċentru biex
jiddiskutu dwar it-tmexxija tal-belt.
7
8. Illum il-ġurnata jinħatar gvern rappreżentattiv.
Dan ifisser li n-nies jagħżlu lil min jixtiequ li
jirrappreżentahom u b’hekk iseħħu x-xewqat tal-
poplu.
Nisa, barranin u skjavi ma kellhomx sehem.
8
9. Fis-sena 509 Q.K., Ruma ġiet iddikjarata
repubblika (ir-re/regina ma baqgħatx kap tal-istat
u minflokha nħatar president) wara li ġie imkeċċi
r-re.
Il-familji sinjuri ħadu r-riedni huma.
Dawn il-klassijiet għolja, għalkemm huma kienu
żgħar fin-numru, kellhom il-poter li jiggvernaw fuq
il-ħaddiema, jew aħjar plebej, għax hekk kienu
msejjħa.
9
10. Biż-żmien, il-plebej irribellaw u qamu kontra dawn
il-familji sinjuri.
Riedu iktar drittijiet, u rnexxielhom jeħduhom.
Għal darb’oħra, l-irġiel biss kellhom parti f’dan
kollu.
10
11. Matul il-Medju Evu, ħafna mill-pajjizi Ewropej,
kienu monarkija (stat immexxi minn re jew reġina).
Fost dawn il-pajjiżi nsibu lil Franza, l-Ingilterra u r-
Russja.
Ħafna minna jiftakru l-istejjer dwar Robin Hood li
dejjem kien jiġġieled kontra l-ħażin ‘King John’.
11
12. Ir-rejiet
u l-irġejjen kienu jgħarfu li l-poter
tagħhom hu mibgħut direttament minn Alla.
Kienu jħossuhom bħala l-magħżulin, u kull min
kien jiddubita mit-tmexxija tagħhom kien qisu qed
jiddubita minn Alla.
12
13. Dan kien imsejjaħ bħala d-Dritt Divin tar-Rejiet.
Però, fl-1215, dan kollu ġie fi tmiemu għaliex
grupp nobbli Ingliż sforza lir-re ta’ dak iż-żmien
biex jinża minn dan id-dritt divin u jikkrea il-
Parlament.
13
14. Karta Magna
Fl-1215, ir-re John kien sfurzat jiffirma l-Karta
Magna.
Dokument li kellu jissalvagwardja id-drittijiet taċ-
ċittadini.
14
15. Per eżempju:
o ma setgħax jisforza lir-romol biex jerġgħu jiżżewġu
o ma setgħax jikkonfiska iż-żwiemel u l-karrettuni
o ma setgħax jisforża n-nies tal-villaġġ biex jibnu pontijiet fuq
ix-xmajjar
o Il-Magna jimmarka l-bidu tad-Demokrazija Parlamentari.
15
16. Revoluzzjoni Amerikana
Ir-Revoluzzjoni Amerikana (1775-1781) ħolqot l-
ewwel demokrazija vera.
L-Amerikani setgħu jivvutaw u l-poter tal-gvern
kien restritt sabiex ħadd ma jabbuza mill-poter.
L-Amerika ma tagħtx id-dritt tal-vot lin-nisa sal-
1919.
16
17. Revoluzzjoni Franċiża
Ir-Revoluzzjoni Franċiża tal-1789 ħadet l-oriġini tagħha fl-
ispirtu tad-demokrazija.
Intuzat il-giljottina (simbolu tad-dittatorjat), biex jeliminaw
l-oppożizzjoni.
Ħallew l-awtorità f’idejn dittatur militari, Napuljun, fejn
prova jaħtaf l-Ewropa permezz tal-poter tiegħu.
17
18. Hemm differenza bejn is-sistema l-antika (dik tal-
griegi) għal dik li nużaw illum?
Jeżistu tliet differenzi:
1. Id-daqs tal-popolazzjoni
2. Il-livell ta’ parteċipazzjoni
3. L-eliġibilità
18
19. Id-daqs tal-popolazzjoni
Fil-Greċja l-Antika ma kienx hemm
popolazzjoni kbira kif hemm illum.
Ħafna nies kienu jieħdu sehem fil-politika
għax il-ġurija kienu jkunu kbar.
19
20. Il-livell ta’ parteċipazzjoni
Id-demokrazija li nużaw illum hija
rappreżentattiva għaliex aħna nagħżlu lil
min ser imexxina permezz ta’ elezzjoni.
20
21. L-eliġibilità
Ċittadini li kienu rġiel adulti kellhom japplikaw
biex jieħdu sehem f’demokrazija diretta.
In-nisa, il-barranin, bħal skjavi, kienu wkoll esklużi
mill-affarijiet tal-parlament.
Illum, kull mara adulta għandha d-dritt li
tipparteċipa fil-qasam politiku ta’ pajjiż.
21
22. L-Ugwaljanza u l-libertà
Kull persuna adulta għandha vot wieħed
B’hekk is-sistema politika ma tiffavorixxi lil ħadd.
Kulħadd irid jobdi l-istess liġijiet
Kull ċittadin għandu l-libertà tal-ħsieb u tal-
espressjoni.
Il-qawl Malti li jgħid: Mitt bniedem, mitt fehma!
22
23. Kull ċittadin igawdi wkoll mid-dritt
tal-assoċjazzjoni
Jissieħeb f’għaqdiet politiċi, trade unions u
gruppi ta’ pressjoni.
Ikollu aktar saħħa biex isemma’ leħnu .
Jsib appoġġ biex jiddefendi d-drittijiet u l-
interessi tiegħu.
23
24. Id-demokrazija fid-dar
Bażi komuni u evidenti ta’ din l-iżgħar
demokrazija hija il-familja.
Bl-imħabba ta’ bejniethom, il-koppja tegħleb id-
diffikultajiet tal-ħajja.
Il-miżżewġin jagħrfu jibnu, jfornu u jorganizzaw
dar li taħt is-saqaf tagħha l-membri tal-familja
jistrieħu, jissaħħu u jgħaddu tant ħin flimkien.
24
25. Bejn il-membri tal-familja hemm relazzjoni ta’
għajnuna, rispett u mħabba.
Membru jrid jagħmel ir-rwol tiegħu.
Dan ir-rwol jista’ jinbidel, jiżdied jew
jitnaqqas, skond il-ħtiġijiet differenti tal-
familja li jistgħu jinbidlu maż-żmien.
25
26. Familja Simetrika
Ir-responsabbiltajiet,
id-drittijiet u d-dmirijiet tal-
miżżewġin jinqasmu ugwalment bejn il-ġenituri.
Dan biddel xi ftit mill-valuri tas-soċjetà.
It-tfal qabel kienu jiġu mogħtija ċerti messaġġi kif
għandhom iġibu ruħhom meta jikbru
Il-bniet qegħdin jaraw lil ommhom toħroġ taħdem
L-irġiel jifhmu li la l-mara qed taħdem, għandhom id-
dmir li jgħinu lilha fix-xogħol tad-dar u fit-trobbija tal-
ulied.
26
27. Id-demokrazija fl-iskola
L-iskejjel għandhom iservu ta’ laboratorju
demokratiku fejn irawmu fl-istudenti:
o Rispett lejn l-individiwi
o Id-dritt li jgħixu fil-libertà
o Il-paċi
o Is-sigurtà
o L-ordni
27
28. Multi-kulturali
Soċjetà demokratika għandha tistma lil
kulħadd indaqs.
Is-sistema edukattiva tagħti l-istess aċċess
lill-istudenti kollha indipendentement:
o mill-abbiltà
o mis-sess
o mir-reliġjon
o mir-razza jew mill-qasam soċjali
o ekonomiku
o kulturali tagħhom
28
29. Il-proċess edukattiv għandu jrawwem sens ta’
ġustizzja u solidarjetà soċjali fl-istudenti.
Il-komunità edukattiva għandha wkoll
attivament topponi kull forma ta’ attitudni jew
azzjoni diskriminatorja.
L-ispirtu demokratiku huwa wkoll marbut ma’
kemm l-iskola hi kapaċi tistimula l-ħsieb
kritiku u kreattiv u s-sens ta’ kurżità fit-tfal
biex b’hekk huma jsiru ċittadini aktar
indipendenti, kritiċi u kreattivi fil-ħsieb
29
30. It-teknoloġija
L-istudenti kollha, inklużi tfal b’abbiltajiet
differenti jkollhom taħriġ u aċċess għat-
