1. Complete skills during clinical practice, up to and including:
a. Successfully insert a female urinary catheter on the first try (and/or maintain proper
procedure by avoiding withdrawing it before attempting a second) or discontinue a
urinary catheter;
b. Increase comfort level and success rate of IV insertions;
c. Complete injections
i. SubQ
ii. Intramuscular
iii. Intradermal
d. Set up, maintain and take down IV tubing
2. Speak directly with MD regarding patient treatment goals or verbally discussing patient status
with a request for further instruction over the phone.
3. Move from the role of Student nurse to student Nurse after initial phase.
4. Taking the lead on patient care from start to finish of shift by the 6th
shift.
5. Taking the lead on 2 patients from start to finish by the final shift.
