Pre-fixes and suffixes are groups of letters that are added to the beginning or end of root words to change their meaning. A prefix is added to the front, a suffix to the end, and the root word is the base without affixes. Examples show how prefixes like "re", "in", "im", and "anti" and suffixes like "ing", "s", "ilities", and "able" modify root words to form new words with different meanings.
