Prayer Service – Drug AddictionBy: Paulina De Fulviis
We start with the sign of our faithIn the nameof the Father,The Son, and The Holy Spirit… Amen
Opening PrayerFor we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Our struggle is with evil powers. Drugs are a demonic doorway to the supernatural world. When you use it, you enter a dark world of destruction, depression, anxiety, and confusion. The dark spirit of addiction tortures people and keeps them in cages. He has destroyed, corrupted, and killed a multitude of young, beautiful people.. These people were created in the image of God. They all had a destiny, a calling to fulfil something good in their lifetime. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. Only Jesus can really save you out of its power. Lord Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Please hear me today and help me! I want to receive you as my Lord and Saviour.
Scriptural PassageA reading from the letter of Paul to the Corinthians “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.”The Word of the Lord. . . Thanks be to God1 Corinthians 6: 12- 13
General IntercessionsWe pray for the addicts and the weak to have strength. They need to be able to step away from the drugs and go to Jesus. Jesus will guide you to the right path to enable you to live your life to the fullest. We pray to the Lord. . . Lord, hear our prayerWe pray for the addicts’ friends and familiesto have strength and courage. Drugs tend to destroy relationships, therefore we encourage the friends and families to stay strong and work together. Working together is the key to overcoming this addiction. We pray to the Lord. . . Lord, hear our prayerWe pray for the employers, bosses and co-workers of the drug addicts. We pray that they have patience to deal with the addicts. Encourage support seminars to take place at work, instead of firing the addict. If these people are fired, it will leave them in a bigger and deeper hole than before. We pray to the Lord. . . Lord, hear our prayer
Everybody’s At It – Lily AllenI don’t know much but I know this for certainAnd that is the sun poking its head round the curtainNow please can we leave I’d like to go to bed nowIt’s not just the sun that is hurting my head nowI’m not trying to say that I’m smelling of rosesBut when will we tire of putting shit up our nosesI don’t like stayin’ up, stayin’ up past the sunlightIt’s meant to be fun and it just doesn’t feel right
Why can’t we all, all just be honest?Admit to ourselves that everyone’s on itFrom grown politicians to young adolescencePrescribing themselves anti-depressantsNow how can we start to tackle the problem? If you don’t put your hands up and admit that your on it
Now the kids are in danger, they’re all getting hammeredFrom what I can seeEveryone’s at it (Everyone’s at it, at it, at it)Everyone’s at it (Everyone’s at it, at it, at it)Everyone’s at it (Everyone’s at it, at it, at it)Everyone’s at it (Everyone’s at it, at it, at it)
I get involved but I’m not advocatingGot an opinion, yea your well off the slatingSo you’ve got a prescription, yea that makes it legalFinding excuses, is well over whelming with peopleYou go to the doctor and you need pills for sleepingIf you can convince him then I guess that’s not cheatingSee you’re daughters depressed, so get her straight on the ProzacBut little do you know that she already takes crack
Why can’t we all, all just be honest?Admit to ourselves that everyone’s on itFrom grown politicians to young adolescencePrescribing themselves anti-depressantsNow how can we start to tackle the problem? If you don’t put your hands up and admit that your on it

Closing PrayerA person who uses drugs may be responsible, in the fullest sense, for starting to do so. However, as Christians, we are responsible for any continuing habit. We are meant to face all things in the sure knowledge of the love of God and the sufficiency of His grace. We should not resort to drugs to circumvent the consequences of our actions, to blot out experiences (however horrendous) or escape realities. God has promised He will provide the means of escape (which may sometimes mean taking us THROUGH the 'darkest valley'). Opting out is not an option for the believer.
We end with the sign of our faithIn the nameof the Father,The Son, and The Holy Spirit… Amen
