CABELA’S HAS DEER SEASON IN SIGHTS
Rapid City, SD (Sept. 4, 2014) – With deer season right around the corner, Cabela’s Inc.
recently launched a company-wide campaign dubbed Deer Nation with the direct and simple
goal of becoming the authority for everything deer hunting.
“We love deer hunting—it’s in our nature! From preparation and scouting, to processing and
recipes, we are aiming to be your complete resource this, and every, deer season,” explains Brad
Dye, General Manager. “We’re proud to have dozens of deer-hunting experts and are excited to
offer some great free seminars and demos to the community.”
Throughout the season, Cabela’s Rapid City will offer various workshops on scent blockers,
game camera basics, rifle selection, bowhunting tips, dehydrated foods and energy snacks, optics
and the latest in gear. Demos to note include:
Saturday, September 6th
After the Shot: Game Butchering 101 @ 10am
Join us for a live demo on how to break down your kill into the proper meat groups.
Sunday, September 7th
Jerky and Sausage Making @ 10am
Learn how to take your harvest and make great tasting brats, jerky, hamburger, and
sausage. It’s easier than you think and our spices add just the right kick.

Saturday, October 25th
Fall Camp Breakfast @ 9am
You need to be focused during a hunt and you can’t be with an empty stomach! Learn some
easy and delicious cooking ideas, featuring our Camp Chef and Cabela’s Ultimate Grill, that
will get your ready for a successful hunt.
Skinning Your Trophy for Taxidermy @ 9:30
If you bag that animal that has to be a full size mount or just want to be your taxidermist’s
favorite customer, you don’t want to miss this. Watch as a local taxidermist Gary English
demonstrates how to best skin that once-in-a-lifetime kill. He will also give you tips that will
ensure your hide and meat get out of any terrain fresh and undamaged.
Processing 101: Jerky and Sausage Making @ 10:30am
No matter how you slice it, 150lbs is a lot of meat. Learn how to get creative and don’t let an
ounce go to waste. From brats and sausage, to jerky and hamburger we’ll show you how to
slice, grind, and dehydrate meat for a delicious treat. It’s easier than you think and our spices
add just the right kick.
Dutch Oven Delights from 11 am–1 pm
Learn how to impress your camp mates with a Dutch oven surprise. Join us for a fun,
informative demonstration as we introduce the basics of Dutch oven cooking. Be sure to take
part in this fun cooking session and taste samples that are sure to please!
